Samsung Rogue now official on Verizon

Time to finally give that Glyde a proper burial at sea (or recycling center, or baby cousin who needs a phone, or whatever). The oft-rumored Rogue is finally available, notably featuring a 3.1-inch AMOLED display (Verizon calls it "ultra brilliant"), a 3 megapixel cam with flash and on-board editing, microSD support up to 16GB, full HTML browsing, Microsoft Office document viewing, TouchWiz, and naturally, that full slide-out keyboard that makes it a Glyde killer. Grab it now for $99.99 on contract.

Samsung Rogue's Bluetooth setup will be second nature to air traffic controllers

Most of the time when we're taking a good, hard look at a phone's user interface, we're looking at the big picture -- the home screen, the main menu, the dialer, the browser. You know, the things you're using day in and day out. Samsung's dug a bit deeper for the launch of its upcoming Rogue, though, putting together a pretty wild radar-style display for Bluetooth pairing. The idea's simple: discoverable hardware around you appears as blips on the screen with your phone at the center; when you see the blip you want to pair, just drag it to the center. We can pretty much guarantee that the relative locations of in-range devices have no bearing on reality, but still, turning something as mundane as connecting your Bluetooth headset into a mini-game is paradoxically both awesome and annoying beyond words.

Update: The Eternity works the same way -- and some other recent Samsungs, we'd presume -- but it's still a pretty interesting trick. Thanks, Jeremy!

Verizon preps Samsung Rogue and Intensity for September 8 launches

With names like "Rogue" and "Intensity," we're totally picturing these phones breaking out of their tethers in Verizon stores, wreaking havoc, pickpocketing customers, and stealing identities during credit checks -- but in reality, we've just got a couple of unassuming QWERTY sliders in the mix here. Starting with the lower of the two, the Intensity keeps things simple by leaving out 3G and sticking with a 1.3 megapixel camera, so we're thinking this slots in right underneath the Rival as far as Big Red's text-heavy wares go. Moving up, the Rogue is looking to put the Glyde out to pasture with a 3.1-inch WVGA AMOLED display, 3 megapixel cam with autofocus, HTML browser, and naturally, TouchWiz. Both units hit streets on September 8; you'll pay $199.99 with a $100 rebate on a new two-year agreement for the pricey Rogue, while the more pocketbook-friendly Intensity runs $79.99 on contract with a $50 rebate.

Storm 2, Motorola Sholes, Nokia Twist dated for Verizon, according to leaked doc

We've heard about a good number of these phones were bound for Verizon Wireless already, but if this leaked doc via Boy Genius Report is to be believed, we now have a much better idea when they should be within reach of consumer hands. First up is Samsung Rogue for sometime this month (we previously heard today, but that's looking very doubtful at this point) for an estimated $370 subsidized. Next on the calendar is the "female centric" Nokia Twist 7705 in late September for $230, which more likely than not is the swiveling device we've seen on two prior occasions. Also due out next month is the Samsung Intensity for $130 (screenshot after the break). LG Chocolate Touch was rumored by Best Buy for today, but here it's listed for an October debut, along with Storm 2, a "low cost QWERTY" HTC Razzle / Blitz 2 (XV6175, perhaps?), and the Motorola Sholes "Google Phone," red D-pad likely in tow, all with TBD price tags. Rounding out the list in late November is the BlackBerry Curve 2, which we wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the 8530. The first one expected for public is the Rogue, replacing the Alias 2 that just launched back in May. What gives Verizon, no love for e-ink textpads?

Verizon ponies up to Google for premature Samsung Rogue ad

If you want to get in on the Glyde's successor in the next few months, odds are good you'll be asking for the Rogue when you mosey into the store. Actually, the odds are virtually 100 percent now that Verizon has kicked off the Rogue's advertising campaign -- despite the fact that the phone is yet to be announced. Whoopsie! If we had to guess, this is a sign that the phone's announcement is imminent; last we'd heard it was on track for an August 23 launch, so we could definitely imagine a press release coming this week.

[Thanks, Adam]

LG Chocolate Touch and Samsung Omnia 2 slated for August 23rd, according to supposed Best Buy leak

If this screen capture to be believed, August 23rd is gearing up to be one helluva day for phone lovers. According to this snapshot from Best Buy's computers, that's when LG's desirable BL40 Chocolate Touch will be making its way into the consumer world, alongside a red Xenon and a bevy of Samsung phones including Omnia 2, Rogue, and Solstice. No clue on what the Tour is doing up there dated for the 23rd, since it's already out on both Verizon and Sprint, but perhaps a major shipment is in the works. As for that M330 for September 8th? Yeah, we're not sure. Surrounding that tantalizing list from the top and bottom, respectively, are Samsung's eco-conscious Reclaim -- presumably listed for August 16th, although the date is obscured -- and a red and black "G2" from august 5th, which would undoubtedly be referring to T-Mobile's sophomore Android device, the myTouch 3G. Two weeks seem awfully close, but if this pans out, we certainly won't be arguing.

Samsung's u960 Rogue for Verizon has best name ever; looks alright, too

The word "Rogue" conjures images of awesome X-Men characters, small Nissan SUVs, and badasses who don't take crap from nobody -- but QWERTY sliders on Verizon? We'll admit, we didn't see that one coming. The would-be Glyde replacement is apparently lined up for a release date around the 15th of August, and we're seeing it now for the first time in pristine press shots following some in-the-wild action early in the month. We can tell already that it's going to be a better-looking phone than its predecessor, and the word on the street is that it works as good as it looks; if anything, it's a shame they didn't just go ahead and slap WinMo on here and call it an Omnia Pro. Can't win 'em all, we suppose.

O2 starts offering Sony Ericsson's T700 Red Gold

Remember that marginally unsightly red and gold T700 we spotted back in January? Yeah, O2 UK just got up the nerve to actually offer it up for sale, but it's doing the smart thing by selling it for £0.00 on a Pay Monthly contract. In case you've forgotten the specs, this one boasts up to 8GB of expandable memory, a 3.2 megapixel camera, MP3 player, inbuilt speakers, up to 9.5 hours of talk time, video capturing abilities, an FM radio, a 2-inch display and 3G data support. You know, on second thought -- maybe that color combination is starting to grow on us.
