BlackBerry Internet Service stricken with global outages? {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 17th 2009 12:40AM My BBM wasn't working earlier when I was trying to message my gf. I have a Sprint Tour and my gf has AT&T Curve
BBM is working now, and my browser and email has been working all day!
Japanese college giving away free iPhones, using them to track students' attendance {Engadget Mobile}
May 22nd 2009 1:57PM @kmc:
Clearly you don't think before you type. Doing a quick google search of this university, this school is a private school. It is not government run. Even in America, private institutions can have requirements of its members/students.
Hell, even some American schools have similar requirements. Tons of schools require students to have a certain brand of computer, usually macs, with security and tracking software installed to insure the security of the school's network.
This software reports to the school what websites you visit, and what you are downloading while using the schools network. Once I received an email stating not to go to my favorite car website, because there was a banner ad, advertising "Male Enhancement." My failure to stop using this website would result in my access to the network to be suspended, meaning no more internet while on campus.
My school does this, and guess what, it a public school!
And guess where I live... IN AMERICA!
FCC Fridays {Engadget Mobile}
Aug 11th 2007 12:54AM Doesn't look like it. FCC states the i640v is a 1900 Mhz (no 850 or world bands) GSM & EDGE handset with bluetooth. No mention of UMTS/WCDMA or HSDPA. Sounds like a VERY entry level phone to me! SGH-L400v shows the same specs. The SGH-A811 is an 850 Mhz HSDPA & 1900 GSM/EDGE handset with bluetooth.

Jun 25th 2007 7:23PM "T-Mobile keeps a good track of its inventory, and can identify any of the phones if they turn up on the network"
GSM phones are easily unlocked and used on any other network in the world (as long as they're quadband)
At least he wasn't dumb enough to rob a Sprint or Verizion store! That would be useless!
Is this the Palm Gandolf? {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 9th 2007 12:44AM I think that this could have a lot of potential. I think sprint would and should target it at youth who want devices for text, email, and im. Similar to the VZW enV, U740(?) and TMO Sidekick.
For the price, I know I would buy it. I have been waiting for a qwerty device under $200. I wish Sprint had the enV. But I love Sprint and will not leave just for a phone.
