Dell creates communications division for push into handheld market {Engadget}

Totally agree. It's not that it's inherently ugly, but nowadays you have to do one of two things; either differentiate yourself from the standard (iphone-esque) look (htc hero, moto droid), or if you're going to go for that look, make it super classy with interesting design elements. This does neither, and is terribly boring looking.

PsiXpda 3G UMPC hits the UK, reminds us of a PDA we had 14 years ago {Engadget}

Dec 4th 2009 8:56PM Honestly, even people with $830 burning a hole in their pocket would probably rather not buy this. It just tries to be too many things, and probably can't do any of them that well. Probably would have been a hit a couple years ago, but now? Meh.

In fairness, I think it's kind of a disappointing product.

You live in NY and you seriously can't see why this is useful tech? Does your phone have a capacitive screen? :|

Zii Trinity smartphone concept handled on video {Engadget}

Yeah TonicBoy mentioned that above, too. I totally agree. Ever notice how much better prototype renderings look? It's usually because there is nearly no bezel to speak of. Just glorious glorious screen real estate.

Augmented reality Twitter 360 app geolocates your friends by their tweets {Engadget}

Dec 2nd 2009 7:51PM @southern78

No I'm right there with you. People, especially young people, are starting to spend so much time trying to keep up with every tiny detail in everyone else's life that they're becoming incredibly unproductive.

I definitely think twitter has some valid usefulness, but it, like so many other "social communication" tools out there, is still used primarily for ridiculous updates of trivial anecdotal nonsense

How's that for grouchy?

AT&T and Verizon drop lawsuits, make nice for the holidays {Engadget}

Luke Wilson is the man. Silence yourself.

Motorola Sholes Tablet detailed, sounds as tasty as we'd hoped {Engadget}

Dec 2nd 2009 1:20PM I'd be surprised if this came out on Verizon. It competes far too directly with the Droid, and it does very little for MOTO's attempt at resurgence back into the industry. They need to diversify and offer this on AT&T or TMO. Or Sprint, I guess.
