LG Arena launches in Europe {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 17th 2009 7:53AM Actually, LG never said the device was available. They merely pointed out that they had 1 million pre-orders and that it was planned to be available during March - which is exactly what they said at MWC.

Android device sales hurting Windows Mobile sales, says HTC exec {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 26th 2008 10:44AM Did nobody notice that Smarthouse doesn't quote or even name an executive in its story?

"The HTC executive has also admitted that the new Google offering is hurting sales of Windows Mobile devices of which HTC are the biggest maker in the world."

They don't mention any executive at all in the story, other than in that final sentence. This isn't news. There are no sources. People make stuff up, and everybody else forwards it on as fact.

Garmin planning Android-powered handsets for late 2009 {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 22nd 2008 11:08AM DigiTimes is not known for being very reliable, and the fact that it does not attribute the comment about the Android phone coming in the second half of 2009 to Garmin's Tony An certainly leaves open the door for that bit of info to have come from some random analyst. DigiTimes has certainly been pretty loose with posting little factoids like that in the past.

Oct 9th 2008 7:43AM Sony Ericsson confirmed to us earlier this week that neither X1 will support the 1700MHz AWS band required for T-Mobile's 3G network.

Originally, both variants of the X1 were to have 1700MHz support. The initial press release back in February said as much. They have changed their plan, though.

I'm quite impressed with it overall. I could easily see my mother liking and using this cellphone.
