iPhone MMS is now live! {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 25th 2009 2:49PM Yeah, no doubt the original iPhone could do MMS if they wanted it to. I remember there was a jailbreak app back in 2007 that enabled it. Apple just chose not to support it on that model.

iPhone OS 3.0.1 update released, fixes SMS vulnerability {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 31st 2009 5:03PM No MMS is AT&T's fault, not Apple's.

WiFi-less iPhones roll off assembly line -- and into Chinese pockets? {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 16th 2009 11:48AM The lack of Wi-Fi is a requirement by the Communist government if China. Should something happen where they want to cut their citizens' access to the Internet, they just disable the carrier's data. This way, you won't have a situation like in Iran where the government couldn't block Twitter from all mobile phones during the election riots recently. The Chinese are thinking ahead ;)

T-Mobile, Orange bring up the obvious concerns over LTE {Engadget Mobile}

May 21st 2009 1:23PM The idea with LTE is that you create a single high performance data network. Then the carrier has the option of either use a separate voice network like Verizon is doing now with 1x (voice) and EV-DO (data). Or they can implement some sort of VOIP solution and just send voice over the data network. You would think maintaining a single data network would be the easier option vs. two separate networks. I've always wondered if the average non-techie Verizon user even understands what the 2 signal meters on their phones are for since Verizon labels then 1x and Ev.

Sprint puts a vacation blackout on May -- Palm Pre launch likely? {Engadget Mobile}

Apr 12th 2009 1:33AM Unfortunately, Sprint sucks in a lot of areas.

Palm investor McNamee details Pre's neat location-based features {Engadget Mobile}

Jan 19th 2009 10:17PM Looks like it's going to be an awesome device! Too bad it's a Sprint exclusive -- that's going to be its downfall.

iPhone 2.1 update is out: bug fixes and longer battery life promised {Engadget}

Sep 12th 2008 12:59PM They worded this poorly. It is not an optional feature, it is now the standard behavior of SMS. You can't turn it off. Basically, if you receive an SMS and do not touch your phone, 5 minutes later it will play the incoming SMS sound again (however screen stays off). If you still do not touch your phone, 5 minutes later it will do it once more.

Sep 12th 2008 12:45PM No doubt that *some* of the 3G issues can be blamed on AT&T. However, when you have another 3G phone on AT&T's network side-by-side with the iPhone and the other phone is out performing the iPhone, I think it's pretty obvious that you can't blame the network in that case.

iPhone 2.1 update is out: bug fixes and longer battery life promised {Engadget}

Sep 12th 2008 12:33PM I think this feature was worded poorly. It's not an optional feature you can turn on, it's just the standard behavior now. You'll get up to two additional alerts if you don't check your SMS. It seems to just repeat the SMS sound every five minutes.

There can be only one: "source" claims for iPhone 2.0.2 to not suck, 2.0 must die {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 29th 2008 12:55PM As a greedy, power-hungry bastard, I will definitely NOT be upgrading to 2.0.2! So suck it all you other 3G users :)
