Palm Pre gets upgraded to 1.0.4 (update: homebrew installs via email dead for now) {Engadget}

Jun 30th 2009 4:00AM Palm's going about this quite nicely, the only thing keeping me from getting a Pre is the lack of apps. If not now then at least we need to know that developers will focus on making stuff for the Pre. Don't want to invest in the thing and then six months down the road find out nobody really cares about writing proggies for it.

Poll: Are you buying a Palm Pre? {Engadget}

May 20th 2009 7:15AM Mail-in rebate??!?!? Yeah right. Just lost me as a potential Pre customer, and how many thousand others?

Renesas's 1080p-decoding processor coming soon to a cell phone near you {Engadget}

May 5th 2009 7:15AM Like Cunthor I think this is a bit premature. And who watches 1080p movies on their cell phone? iPhone, maybe but even that's a bit ridiculous. I'd love to see more cheap laptops/notebooks be able to play 1080p so I'm with Cunthor on this one.

Would be a sexy alternative to the iPhone.

MSI Wind U123 netbook now being stocked by US retailers {Engadget}

May 5th 2009 5:53AM So sick of these underpowered Atom chips. Love the small form factors and netbooks w/ SSDs but until manufacturers offer netbooks with better processors and at least 64 gig SSDs this type of thing is just not appealing. Thoughts?
(BTW kudos on the 6 cell battery, MSI)

VAIO P vs Eee PC... fight! {Engadget}

Jan 9th 2009 3:29AM John, you are correct about upping font size. But hey...Do you love to scroll? I mean, a lot? Because that's what you'll be doing on the P. Regardless of the font size you'll select, fact is the screen's dimensions are so that you cannot view web pages without scrolling.

And the more you increase the font the more you'll be scrolling. Because then less fits on the page. See how that works?

Comparing this with a TV is like comparing apples to oranges.

Ever seen a web page on an iPhone?
Okay, imagine the same but with about another 3rd of the page or so chopped off (from the bottom). And then imagine a bunch of useless unfilled space to the side of the page.
Is that how people want to surf the web?

VAIO P vs Eee PC... fight! {Engadget}

Jan 9th 2009 3:09AM Am I taking crazy pills? This thing is USELESS! People, look at the damn screen, you don't see anything. It's too small and much wider than most any site you'll encounter. WHAT is the point of this thing?
Seriously, I cannot believe the positive nods the P gets from people.
Again, the screen is TOO SMALL to see anything and to add insult to injury the resolution is TOO HIGH which makes everything even smaller. Do people not get that?
Oh and by the way - I generally LIKE SONY a lot. Just not the P.
