TUAW Review and giveaway: BackPack for iMac and Cinema Display {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Dec 3rd 2009 8:53PM I would put a brand new external drive on the backpack! I would love one of these.
ABC still intends to finish Defying Gravity's run ... eventually {TV Squad}
Sep 19th 2009 11:42AM I agree with Brian. I think the show generally was poorly executed. The events from episode 9 should have been in the pilot episode. It was a fundamental mistake to hold the reveal of the alien to the 9th ep of the series. Especially since the "purpose" of the mission could have been held for another ep or three.

How would you change Nokia's N97? {Engadget}
Aug 20th 2009 2:05PM Okay, so after 2 months of use, there are really a handful of main issues that I need resolution to immediately or I am thinking of selling the phone on ebay and going back to my N85:
a) sync addresses and phone numbers to Macs via Isync. Without this capability, nearly any smartphone is dead to me.
b) have a simple way to use VOIP capabilities on the phone. it is a shame that the N95 in many ways is more developed in terms of features than the N97.
c) fix the music program so that music can be more easily managed (have checkboxes by tracks so I can quick add to playlists) and podcasts can be more easily managed.
I really like the phone generally and the keyboard works for me, but the 3 issues above are a constant irritation.
Does Katherine Heigl need to get some perspective? {TV Squad}
Aug 10th 2009 11:47AM so...I thought Heigl was joking when she "complained" on Letterman. Are people now thinking she was serious when she made those remarks?
Nokia N97 getting firmware 1.1 on July 1 {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 30th 2009 10:56AM I look forward to a firmware update, but I love my N97 so far. I have only had it for a couple of days, but I love this phone! My previous phone was a Nokia N85, so I am like a duck to water with the N97. There have been some problems with Nokia Messaging (had to uninstall it so the phone wouldn't keep crashing), but so far I have found it more stable than my N95 was.
Ask TUAW: Syncing folders, hard drive problems, reinstalling OS X, and more {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 1st 2009 9:05AM Dave,
there is a way to do this, you can do it via symlinks. For example, I have folders that exist outside of my dropbox folder that I have a symlink to and so they show up in dropbox.
Here is more information about it:

May 1st 2009 9:01AM One question I have is you know the feature in Microsoft Word where you can click to have a new window and now your Word document is in two windows?
Can I do that Preview? There are many times when I would want to see a pdf in two windows and the only way I've been able to accomplish this is to duplicate the pdf and open both files (that now have different filenames).
I've looked through help and all through the program and I cannot find any such functionality. Perhaps I need Adobe Acrobat for this?
The long hiatus is killing second-year shows, and some older ones {TV Squad}
Oct 5th 2008 10:35AM Couple of things:
I think networks are shooting themselves in the foot when they start the season so late. Yes, I know they traditionally like to wait until after the Emmys, but starting the season at the end of September is a problem when I've been looking forward to new tv shows for weeks.
I think some of these shows should be on the summer (like DSM). I think it would be a marvelous summer show and would break up the boredom of all reality all the time. Mad Men is a fabulous summer show (that moves into fall), I can't see why DSM couldn't do the same.
One of the consequences of fall season starting so late is that we have fictional shows competing with the real life drama of this political race. I actually am watching the debates and daily show and colbert every single time they are aired (and I may start watching letterman again). That's a lot of tv that isn't new offerings from the networks.
Mac Automation: Quickly add to-dos/events to iCal {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Sep 30th 2008 7:32AM problem is: this does not work. I think there is an error with the add to ical workflow. MacWorld has mentioned this a few months back.
