Sep 28th 2008 1:43AM What I really want is the ability to FORWARD SMSs and also to MMS. Text forwarding here in China is used much more as during the holidays (Mid-autumn Festival, Chinese New Year, Christmas, etc) there are a great number of very well written and funny greeting messages that are usually forwarded to friends who then forward it to friends etc etc. but then again if there's copy/paste then the forwarding won't be necessary would it?

Sep 5th 2008 11:06AM YAY OCTOPUS!

:]

I live in Hong Kong and I use it everyday. No. It's not solid lead. or part lead. Actually I believe it's developed by Sony, using its FeliCa system. In fact, it's used by so many people that some schools have the students "doot" their cards for attendance records. It can be used anywhere, from buses to trains to the MTR (that's the subway for you Americans) to McDonalds and 7-Eleven.

"The Octopus card has been internationally recognized, winning the Chairman's Award of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance's 2006 Global IT Excellence Award for being the world's leading complex automatic fare collection and contactless smartcard payment system, and for its innovative use of technologies."

"The Octopus card uses encryption for all airborne communication and it uses two-way authentication based on public key infrastructure (PKI). In other words, data communications to and from the card are only established when mutually authenticated security handshaking is verified followed by transfer of encrypted data. The Octopus card and system have never been successfully cracked." - Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octopus_card)

iPhone 3G reception just fine say curious Swedes with engineering degrees {Engadget}

Aug 25th 2008 9:20AM I live in Hong Kong, and I've never had a dropped call on my iPhone 3G... It does switch to 2G sometimes, but that's normal for wherever it drops to 2G. For example, in some of the MTR (subway) tunnels, it drops to 2G, which is normal for other phones too.

Nobody I know here is having any sort of connection or signal problems.

Jul 9th 2008 8:47PM Exactly... Taiwan is a province of China while China (I take it you mean the PRC) is a nation. Taiwan is a little tiny island province, while China is a much bigger internationally recognized nation (that is also not an island). Taiwan is attempting to break away from China.

BTW engadget pls change article to say that Trad. Chinese is HK's and Taiwan's language of choice... it's a tiny bit confusing.
