Comcast bolstering HD lineup in Pittsburgh, PA {Engadget HD}

Jul 3rd 2008 9:46AM They (Comcast) better pick up their game... FIOS TV is making/made it's way into several communities. Only bad part is that Verizon has a 6 month backlog on HD boxes.

Major wireless carriers all slapped with text-messaging class-action lawsuit {Engadget}

May 20th 2008 9:07AM What keeps us safe from telemarketers calling us in the USA is the fact that it's illegal and a $15,000 fine whenever a company calls your cellphone to solicit you.

I would assume that text messaging would fall under the same contexts.

As far as faxes go, the company I work for receives a bunch every morning... I don't think it's illegal as you're not paying per fax to receive or send.

Major wireless carriers all slapped with text-messaging class-action lawsuit {Engadget}

May 20th 2008 8:52AM My parents both have Verizon and neither one of them receive text messages. They called up the CSR and said they don't want to receive them... bam, text messages blocked!

This lawsuit will be thrown out quite quickly...

Wii Fit: the 30 day test starts today {Engadget}

May 9th 2008 2:27PM I agree... I work out at best 4 days a week and find that to be enough.

Firmware update cures auto off issue in Samsung 650 LCD HDTVs {Engadget HD}

May 9th 2008 8:08AM I purchased this TV a little over a month ago and the firmware update was available when I purchased it. After about a week, the TV started to do the 'phantom reset'... I downloaded the firmware, followed the instructions, and within two to three minutes, my TV was patched.

I haven't had the issue (knock on wood) since. Seems like everything is working as it should.

For those without a jumpdrive, you can contact Samsung and they will send you out a drive with the firmware preloaded.

This set is phenomenal and definitely worth the money.

Samsung 750-series Touch of Color LCDs due in May {Engadget}

Apr 24th 2008 4:32PM Who is to say these individuals (myself included) do not already donate money to charities and organizations throughout the year? If I decide I want to drop $3k on a TV then so be it. It's a free society.

I doubt the $3k I'd send to Africa would even make it there. Look, if the millions and millions in aid that goes to third world countries gets squandered why would I want to send $3k of my hard earned money? To feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Sorry, not going to happen...

Samsung 750-series Touch of Color LCDs due in May {Engadget}

Apr 24th 2008 8:46AM I recently purchased a 52A650 and love it. I thought the 'Touch of Color' was going to be extremely noticeable in a well lit room, but we hardly notice it. The picture quality is out of this world, however I'm still tweaking it for video games and movies.

As far as it being network capable for the RSS feeds, weather, etc..., that's really not a big deal to me as I have a laptop, a desktop, or a Wii among other things to get that info.

One thing I will note, I'm not a fan of the remote. The track wheel seems at times too sluggish and other times too fast. Hit or miss for me. But I only use the remote for making changes to the picture, nothing that would make me not buy this TV.

In the Autoblog Garage: 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS {Autoblog}

Apr 16th 2008 1:47PM @djSyndrome: I beg to differ. A vehicle that had only 12 more HP and required high RPMs to reach that peak power is not going to run 'rings' around the current iteration. The current XRS while having less HP, has the same engine as the current gen Camry and Scion tC. I have a 5 speed tC and while it's not the fastest vehicle in the world, it's not going to get smoked by an 05 XRS Corolla...

Vista SP1 officially released {Engadget}

Mar 18th 2008 3:15PM First in regards to your Aero Glass comment, you apparently do not use Vista then. The whole file structure of navigating thru Explorer is vastly improved over Explorer in XP. The only thing I do not like about it is how it stores everything in the User folder. After a few tweaks, all of the data folder can be moved outside of the User folder.

Next in regards to your comment about XP and 2000 and them running on comparable hardware and how Vista should do the same. How come the latest Mac OS, not even a full version higher than it's predecessor is unable to run on Macs that are older than 3 or 4 years.

Point being, my neighbor and my brothers girlfriend both have Macs. I don't know the models off the top of my head. I only know that one is a desktop and the other is a laptop. Both were bought freshmen year of college and they'll be graduating this year so they're ~4 yrs old.

The Vista bashing needs to stop. It is nowhere near Windows 98ME that everyone claims it to be.

Verizon has LG Chocolate and enV replacements enroute {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 15th 2008 7:57AM My VX8500 is biting the dust right now, but my NE2 isn't until April and my contract isn't up until August if I'd want to get out for a JesusPhone.

It just recently started getting a mind of it's own and randomly doing things on the touch area that I wasn't doing, like dialing calls whenever I have already slid it shut. I got this to stop by manually locking my phone every time I end a call, but it's annoying and I don't want to always have to manually lock the phone. I'm still running v.4 firmware though, so I don't know if it's a bug finally rearing it's ugly head or what?

The next gen seems appealing though...
