Sep 28th 2009 11:42AM Worked fine for me. I used Terminal to disable the iTunes OS check; manually downloaded the carrier file; used Opt + Update to only upgrade the new carrier file; and now I have MMS on my Jailbroken 3.01 GS.

New study says Palm Pre second only to iPhone 3GS in mindshare {Engadget}

Sep 24th 2009 10:21AM @ Jim
Without mindshare there won't be any marketshare, so at the least it equals a high potential for market share. The iPhone, for example, had an extremely high mindshare, despite its lack of comparative features. This translated to a high marketshare one year later, and a very high marketshare two years later.

Without mindshare a product like this is dead in the water because no one will buy a product they don't consider worthwhile and high mindshare means the product is considered worthwhile.

Video: Pre virtual keyboard developing rapidly, gets easy install method {Engadget}

Aug 31st 2009 1:07PM >>This is that main reason I got rid of my iphone for the Pre. I can add what I want and not void the warranty or have the COE tell me it is illegal to “jailbreak” my phone so that I can add the things I want instead of the things they think I should want.

LOL. Palm may soon follow the same path as Apple and declare Preware as illegal as Apple does Cydia/jailbreaking. Just because they haven't doesn't mean they wont in the future.

Major labels show eagerness to fail with new CMX digital audio format {Engadget}

Aug 11th 2009 10:34AM AAC is not proprietary. Even more so the non-DRM formats they have been using for the last couple of years.

Major labels show eagerness to fail with new CMX digital audio format {Engadget}

Aug 11th 2009 10:30AM >>so itunes supporting something gives it credibility? Itunes mostly uses AAC, but i don't exactly see people calling their ipods "AAC players".

people refer to tissues as Kleenex regardless of brand.

people refer to copiers as Xerox, regardless of brand.

people referred to portable tape players as Walkmans regardless of brand.

people refer to their iPods as mp3 players, regardless of the other formats played. especially since it plays mp3s.
