Razer Imperator gaming mouse ships with adjustable side buttons, disdain for southpaws {Engadget}

Nov 25th 2009 2:48PM @Rocky: There were numerous updates that Razer released and said would fix the mouse jumping issue on the Lachesis. If you take a look at the update that "fixed" it last, that was over a year after the mouse released. In my case, and many others', that update still did not fix the issue. We were then told to remove the foil from the outside of the mouse lens, which did absolutely nothing. Let's not forget that they denied the issue existed for at least 6 months...as of January 2009, my mouse was still jumping. Being an RTS gamer primarily, I could work with it because my view stayed the same. But try playing an FPS where one minute you're aiming at the enemy, the next you're looking straight up into the sky. That's disgraceful considering all of the buzzwords and planted reviews Razer threw out there for that mouse.

Even without those issues, I can't even agree that they make great mice otherwise. They've made ONE great mouse (which is just about on par with most of the other mice manufacturers). Everything else they label for "pros" and all of these mice releases are a trap for anyone looking for quality gaming hardware.

Nov 25th 2009 12:49PM I have yet to own a Razer product that lived up to its namesake - let alone any other company's namesake. Barracuda headset - trash, broke through normal usage in just months, joints made of cheap die cast metal. Lachesis mouse - broken design, cursor jumps all over the screen even if you just leave the mouse sitting still, Razer blames gamers' twitchy hands not being used to 4000 DPI laser....seriously? No fix ever came for that junk. Lycosa keyboard - backlight so dim you HAVE to be in the dark to read the keys, solve one problem by creating a new one, you can no longer look at your keyboard in broad daylight. Which would be fine, if the keys weren't so smooth that you can't feel the F and J keys...nevermind the fact that the nubs on those keys quickly wore down like a cheap laptop and now shine light through. All of this would be "acceptable" if Razer stood behind their products but their customer service is almost as bad as their return policies.

Those were all of 2008's great new Razer releases, enough to convince me that Razer is just a marketing machine with puppet "pro gamers" pushing their horrible products. It seems to me with each new release of a Razer mouse, they create a new fire that they're putting out with it. This time it's the "autocorrect" features of the mouse...it's always something, and it's always bullshit.

Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime squashes Wii HD rumors... again {Engadget HD}

Nov 8th 2009 12:05PM The problem is that we're talking about a Wii that only has games in 480p getting an HD upgrade for, basically, no reason. We're not talking about the successor to the Wii, we're talking about the current system. It's completely senseless to release another version of the same system that will get virtually no benefit from the change in hardware when we're not that far off from the next generation of systems (2011-2014).

Also, up until just this year, it was too hard for them to even keep the current hardware in stock, and they're still concerned about releasing a black Wii in the US because it would create shortages of one system and overstock of the other. It's just not going to happen.

Nov 8th 2009 12:01PM Actually, you're wrong about the power when compared to an Xbox. It's probably about 1.75 times the power of an Xbox, if you know anything about the architecture of both systems you would know this.

No HD is definitely a downer...but that was the tradeoff to keep the cost of all the hardware at the $250 pricepoint. Nintendo has reclaimed the #1 spot after over 10 years so they obviously have it right....meanwhile, Sony and Microsoft are still trying to get their act together to compete with the Wii.

Christmas 2010? That's 1 year away...not going to happen. 2011, possibly. The Wii is only now about to get its first price drop...and will most likely sell well into 2014. Sales are slipping for the entire industry, not just the Wii....take a look.

Nov 6th 2009 5:08PM Ok, come on, nothing here says there is no successor in the works. All the "stupid" and "idiotic" accusations are unwarranted, Nintendo has proven time and again that they are a forward looking company...

Nov 6th 2009 5:05PM @Randy:
I agree with you - I'm just pointing out that engadget are the ones who are referring to a Wii 1.1 instead of a successor.

Nov 6th 2009 2:30PM It was enadget that added it - the 360 took over a year to get HDMI and games are still limited to 720p to this day.

Nov 6th 2009 2:29PM They are not talking about a successor - what they're referring to is an HD version of the Wii.

Nov 6th 2009 1:20PM 360 has had neither 1080i nor HDMI since day one.

Creative set to unveil World of Warcraft headgear at BlizzCon {Engadget}

Aug 19th 2009 11:32AM Yeah, because a gaming peripheral with a game logo on it is totally unheard of and worse than a gaming soda...
