Engadget's 6th birthday giveaway: 'Gadget of the Year' edition {Engadget}

Mar 6th 2010 1:33PM Wow, the staff is really pulling out the stops with the giveaways huh? In keeping with the rules of the contest I will go ahead and state how much I care about engadget. I actually care more than many of the readers I come across on the site. I can state that I see readers whose only desire is to inflame others (we call them fanboys) or incite a downranking festival (the "first!" posters). Not only do I come to engadget first on a DAILY basis for my tech news, I genuinely try to read and toss bits of info to the editors. Yep, RSS feeds in my firefox browser and all!

Some of the folks on staff have noticed a comment from me here or there (hopefully) politely pointing out an omission/error/broken link. I really enjoy engadget and actively hope to make it better where possible. If I could, I would apply to work for the site. I come to engadget first because I enjoy the human element of the news. The staff doesn't proclaim to be anything other than a group of tech-obsessed folks who want to get information out to the masses. The writing is accessible and injected with wit. It's like reading a message from a friend about a new product, not just "here is what happened. read it because my job is to write it!". I appreciate that about the site. So even if I don't win the contest, know that you have a loyal reader who appreciates the site. Keep up the good work :)

Engadget giveaway: win a huge box of stuff from Josh's office! {Engadget}

Mar 4th 2010 1:10AM When I say that I would really like to win this, I am not exaggerating. I read (and post to) the contests when I come across them. I'm intrigued by the idea of not knowing what is in the mythical "box" :) Could be awesome...probably is (I mean, it *is* engadget and all)...so all that to say: pick me.

please.

3D mapping drone fires lasers from a mile away (video) {Engadget}

Nov 18th 2009 2:02PM Nobody mentioned anything about a "cannon". Firing a laser doesn't require a gun. This is like sonar, except with beams of light instead of sound waves. They bounce back, the drone calculates shapes based on the time it takes for each beam to return. The laser takes pictures.
