Intel's Larrabee graphics processor delayed, downsized to mere software development platform {Engadget}

Dec 5th 2009 5:14AM @JS Making a stand-alone GPU isn't really the point though. Larrabee is part of the plan to integrate the CPU and GPU, and Intel doesn't really want to have to rely on Nvidia for that.

Core Values: What's next for NVIDIA? {Engadget}

Dec 4th 2009 9:41PM I read on Anandtech once that Geforce FX was a massive failure, even compared to Fermi (so far), but Nvidia survived even that. I don't think unless Fermi is utterly horrible nvidia will have quit the GPU space - they've survived worse.

The chipset business is dead, certainly, and Ion is dead in the long run. Why aren't more devices using Tegra?

Nintendo loses DS flash cart case in French court {Engadget}

Dec 4th 2009 11:12AM @Rask This is a civil law system: judges don't make binding precedents. Future courts are not obliged to follow this decision, though they may be persuaded by it.

Dec 4th 2009 8:16AM @Jurrr Depends on how well that second Atom core does. Any benchmarks?

Dec 4th 2009 5:35AM Reading the reports from Hexus and Ars, the N450 will be similar to the N270 and the on-die GPU will be a GMA500, which is no challenge in gaming or HD video to Ion. If they had integrated a X4500 things would be different. Pinetrail with N450 seems to provide power benefits, not performance.

The N2101 will remain more powerful than the first Pinetrails, but it might not stand up to a CULV machine at that price.

Dec 4th 2009 3:19AM @kYing You mean like a nice Lian Li X1000 for $420 maybe? :)

Dec 4th 2009 2:46AM A ~$500 premium for good looks and exclusivity is quite a bit, though nothing new (Adamo XPS, almost the Sony X and designer goods). Are you really going to spend that extra on something you'll likely keep at home (it's too heavy for LAN games IIRC) and in the study?

Sony's PlayStation marks 15th anniversary {Engadget}

Dec 4th 2009 2:36AM @iroq d mullet PS3 is finally picking itself up. Uncharted 2, especially, is starting to deliver on the Cell's benefits. The firmware too, has greatly improved. Let's see if they go anywhere with the console's social aspects and motion controls.

Dec 3rd 2009 9:03PM @zero1221 lol things never change. The Wii gets dusted off whenever friends come over, the PS3 is happy when they don't.
