TV TrickleSaver cuts off power to rogue game consoles {Engadget}
Jul 8th 2009 4:18PM @ Johnathan. That may prove more frustrating than easy when you break your ps3. I don't know about everyone else, but I shut off my tv immediately/if I have to get up that way theres no burning of the screen. For instance, If I have to go let my dog out, I'll be gone for 10-15 minutes. I shut my tv off whenever I do that. Besides losing my data, I could corrupt the system too.
I'm sure this product doesn't take into account to shut the system off when its ready like the ps3 does. And as for the 360, a gentle breeze could break it.
HTC's Sense UI not coming to any "Google" branded phones {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 26th 2009 3:26PM The Hero will be missing OTA firmware updates. Thats about it. Far down the road, there may be a chance certain google things dodn't get to your phone, but thats doubtful. This is a some strings attached google phone, so you'll still be plugged into the google goodness, just to a lesser degre and your handset maker/carrier will have some leverage with what happens to the device. Meaning you won't have the android we've all met and loved (lol). The software may or may not be different, but not because of google. Thats the ground you walk without "with google".
I'd also recommend you try the phones out before you make a decision because the Mytouch 3g, besides being a google experience, is supposed to quite snappy, while the hero's Sense UI has been noted as unpolished and a little sluggish.
The chances the Hero comes to Tmobile are pretty good, considering there's no idea who the carrier would be and Verizon seems to be looking towards Moto for their first handset while ATT hs been off the radar. I think its GSM so that rules out sprint. But who knows. Its still up in the air.
T-Mobile myTouch 3G gets unboxed, user guide outed {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 24th 2009 9:57AM I meant fake touch as in how the G1 can be modded to use fake multitouch. It actually can't do multitouch, but it can be changed to map two finger movements, but its still considered one touch. Do you have a G1? If not, its hard to explain. But for example, I'm running JF1.51, which uses "multitouch pinch" in the browser and it gets really messed up when you pinch close. Someone told me its something about how the G1 handles the multitouch, it maps the distance between the fingers instead of following those fingers or something. I don't know. The point was if the myTouch has multitouch, I may craigslist one in a few months to use with my G1.
T-Mobile myTouch 3G gets unboxed, user guide outed {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 23rd 2009 8:21PM Thanks for the unboxing.
But ew, I'm definitely going to get some kind of unbranded Magic/Ion if I ever get the money up (I want one to tinker with for when I brick my g1 lol). That little my logo in the back ruins the phone,just makes it look cheaper and ruins the awesome form it had going on.
I just have a question - does the "my touch" have multi-touch? Without a keyboard, I'm thinking its imperative, but I know how that turned out on the G1 (which compensates with fake touch and a comfy keyboard).
ColorWare outs custom colors for the Apple iPhone 3GS {Engadget}
Jun 23rd 2009 2:35PM @ liv:
They usually have. Here's just a few.

The fact is, there aren't many phones that can get colorware'd right now, only the real popular ones. This isn't another apple conspiracy thing, its usual engadget business, and I for one am happy they do. Although I have a G1, whenever they come out with this stuff, I go play with color combos when I'm bored, so its cool to hear about new toys.
