AT&T responds to Verizon's 3G ad campaign -- by bragging about EDGE {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 12th 2009 8:03PM Its the iphone 3G chip, i agree with Scott very much so, I had the Nokia N97 and that supported 3.5G, worked great never dropped a phone call in my life. Now when I switched to the iphone 3G, it dropped calls, Apple should invest in a better chip for his next iphone after the iphone 3GS. I think its 80% chip, 20% network.
AT&T's third quarter earnings come up all roses {Engadget Mobile}
Oct 23rd 2009 4:45PM Neither company has disclosed, and it's expected, but that's false info, checked with AT&T and it's a 5 year deal

Im not understanding where people get the idea that the contract ends in 2010, I have no idea where this information is being leaked or being given to. The iphone has a 5 year conclusive deal. started in 2007 + 5 equals 2012. So if anything, they will sell another model in 2010 and 2011 etc. Im sure their are some guidelines in the contract, where AT&T has to meet quota or something like that between the two companies, but I just dont get it! Anyway, I have the iphone 3G and had Nokia N97NAM with 3.5 support. I noticed quite a difference on the 3.5G, going back to the iphone 3G, just makes it seem slow, im glad the improvements have hit the Seattle Area, WA
Apple Genius says 30 percent iPhone call drop rate is average in New York {Engadget Mobile}
Sep 30th 2009 3:48PM It gotta be the radio in the phone, I have expierenced on My Nokia N97 perfect signal and it operates perfect on the 3.5G 7.2mps. Although standing next to my friend with his Iphone 3GS, it dropped calls consistently, whenever we were on the phone at the same time. I have other unlocked phones, iphones, HTC Touch HD's, AT&T branded phones, but the iphone has always had a problem. Not enough people seem to get that its not AT&T service. Its the radio in the phone. You will notice that some phones you have are better than others for signal. Hopefully apple will make a much better radio, and it will defiently help that AT&T is moving to the 850mhz spectrum
AT&T in the market for Leap Wireless? {Engadget Mobile}
May 22nd 2009 12:42AM I doubt it would happen, but it could, When verizon had to divest its markets, for the Rural Celluar company, they sold to AT&T< verizon has those markets for the next 12 months of supporting. AT&T will be hopefully completing the conversion (CDMA to GSM) in 4Q 2009, its in the internet, it can be done, Converison of those CDMA to GSM will be done. But in all realtiy, its mostly likely that Tom in ATL is right, it would make more sense for other companies with crappy CDMA technology to buy it out.

Apr 29th 2009 5:48PM Verizon will not have the iphone, its not coming with its crappy CDMA, possibly with LTE, but after AT&T's contract runs out, or extension which will happen
Apple, Verizon mulling iPhone deal for next year? {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 27th 2009 4:07AM Not gonna happen, AT&T has a deal for five years, there is some lee way in there, about if product slumps are down, but wont happen, AT&T has it till 2012, plus CDMA sucks, GSM rocks!!!, verizon already spent a deal to get the blackberry storm for them, they should be more focused on that and improving that, not gonna happen, IF IT DID. im sure AT&T will come up with an agreement to become more exclusive and not have apple give the iphone to another carrier, look at people with like sprint and the PALM PRE, sure it looks good, but wont compete, people leave other companies for exlusivity, its a love hate thing, I dont perfer verizon, i like AT&T, but if i had to switch i go to them, until tmobile becomes bigger and has better phones, and better coverage, especially 3G
AT&T purportedly looking to push iPhone exclusivity to 2011 {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 15th 2009 11:35PM Where are they getting this information. Its a 5 year exlusive contract with iphone and ATT. Its not three or 4 years. look up the agreement. Theres a reason why apple chose GSM, sry verizon, should of signed the T's and C's
