Nokia buys Symbian, turns software over to Symbian Foundation {Engadget}

You are not limited to just the software that's on the phone.
You can download a timer app if you look for one.

You can also download themes with better icons. There are lots of talented theme makers if you look around.

If you managed to download Gmail and Opera Mini, you can find other apps to make your phone better.

Nokia E71 review {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 20th 2008 12:33PM I think it's a regional thing. I'm sure some places in Europe will have qwertz versions while Arabic version will have plenty of accent marks.

Nokia E71 confirmed and oh-so-slim {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 17th 2008 2:19PM If at&t carried it with a subsidy:
-they'd rape the OS with their customizations
-neuter the bluetooth capabilities
-disable java applications
-charge $30 for data

An unlocked and unbranded E71 can use the $15 media net unlimited data plan

Think about this:

iPhone 3G
$200
$40 for voice + $30 for data
$70 x 24 = 1680
total cost is $1880 (minus taxes)

E71
$500
$40 for voice + $15 for data
$55 x 24 = 1320
total cost is $1820 (minus taxes)

Of course, you could subsidize the cost of the e71 by buying an iPhone 3G and then selling it on ebay.

iPhone SDK agreement forbids real-time route guidance, dancing, rock'n'roll {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 11th 2008 1:05PM No, TomTom used a jailbroken iPhone. It breaks the rules of the SDK, so it probably won't be released.

Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot C905 breaks cover with 8.1 megapixels in tow {Engadget Mobile}

I think it can multitask java apps.

Nokia N78 for North America hands-on {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 5th 2008 5:50PM Why does everyone confuse GPS with Nokia Maps?

GPS is free.

Geotagging? Free. Google Maps with GPS? Free. Sports tracker? Free.

Nokia Maps is free to use. Nokia Maps with voice navigation costs money.

Nokia N78 for North America hands-on {Engadget}

Jun 5th 2008 4:42PM I think they had problems geotagging because it seems they didn't put in a sim card. Without a sim card, there's no data. With no data, the A in A-GPS is missing.
