Verizon to AT&T- 'The Truth Hurts' {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 17th 2009 6:28PM Kindly remove your lips from AT&T's ass.. kthxbye

Verizon responds to AT&T's Map For That lawsuit: 'the truth hurts' {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 16th 2009 11:39PM I read all forty something pages, and in my opinion, Verizon decimated AT&T. AT&T freaked because they were caught with their pants down, and were scrambling for any available remedy. lol

Nov 16th 2009 11:37PM Actually, UMB was the natural CDMA 4G progression. What does deploying LTE in the future have anything to do with supposedly invalidating EVDO? Even though LTE is a GSM approved 4G progression, the current 3G deployment that is GSM approved is known as WCDMA. It has to do with how the data is divided in getting to the handset. Try stating something factual before smashing a company because you're most likely an apple fanboy.

Psystar dealt crushing blow in ongoing legal proceedings with Apple {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 15th 2009 4:37PM The next time you label someone as a retard, make sure you use the proper adjective. It hurts the credibility just a bit.

Nov 15th 2009 4:32PM I am a regular TUAW reader, and the likes of Michael Rose ruins the experience for me. This is not the first time I have had beef with what he has to say, and this time he didn't even write the article. He has personally insulted me in previous posts, and mistook what I said for his benefit and to put clout behind his argument. He implied that the person who questioned him is a miscreant by telling the commenter to go buy some marijuana. Not only is that unnecessary, but it is done on purpose to boost his own image in comparison to the supposed pothead. Mac OS X is good enough to be sold on his own merits without having to tie it to hardware. While they would lose money on the hardware, their OS market share would almost certainly increase.

His response will be the same as the last response, "then don't read TUAW." And if I say I won't, not only will he most likely not care, but he will reply with something along the lines of "Good," or, "We don't need you here." Be careful how many you say that to, because if you dismiss enough people, you won't have a job.

Verizon takes another swing at AT&T, puts iPhone on the Island of Misfit Toys {Engadget}

Nov 9th 2009 10:04AM That is totally inaccurate.

From the International Telecommunications Union, the standard on standardizing technologies:

Both EDGE and CDMA are technically 3G technologies. While in practice EDGE is referred to as 2.5G, it is technically 3G. Althogh EDGE Evolution can reach up to 1Mb/s theoretically, and 400Kb/s upload theoretically, it is yet to be deployed on AT&T, making the point moot. The theoretical maximum is 436Kb/s either way when used in packet mode, again, theoretically.

Rev A EVDO's theoretical limit is 3.1Mb/s, and EVDO Rev 0's theoretical limit is 2.4Mb/s, much faster than what you quoted.

AT&T's HSDPA service theoretically can reach 7.2Mb/s, which is faster than EVDO granted, but has not been upgraded to support 21Mb/s as you stated. In the United States, 21Mb/s HSDPA has not been released yet, and T-Mobile is the only one rumored to support this in the near future, as per previous Engadget reports.

Despite all of these theoreticals, real world usage is what counts to me. When I had an iPhone in Miami, FL, the fastest speed I would get using mobile speed tests was around 700kb/s, and I tested often because I'm a geek like that. With my Palm Pre, the fastest I've gotten was 750kb/s. While the differences are negligable, it shows that network congestion and strain on the network is the primary component regarding what speed you will get on your network.

Your only valid technical point is that UMTS/HSDPA allows for simultaneous Data/voice, while EVDO/CDMA does not.

In my technical conclusion, you are an Apple fanboy. =)

Oct 24th 2009 9:05PM @MR: I apologize for my one grammatical error. The gist of my comment was not a joke. The one line about kickbacks was. I apologize for making a comment that had many facets and apparently only dummies like me can understand the complexities of.

Oct 23rd 2009 11:01PM @bloobie: I just did a google search for the phrases "hope" or "hope so" on crackberry, and nothing was found. Crackberry lets blackberry tech speak for themselves. Im going to stop beating a dead horse, but i think my point was made.
