Don't mean to hinder any progress, just rather make sure we don't go building more overly elaborate crap just to find out later that over the whole of their life it does still more damage.

Nov 24th 2009 6:42PM People gripe about how bad the original design had been. But to some degree the newness of a device that rarely needs to connect by cell may have played a part.

Phones need to always maintain contact. Data cards are also more persistent when connected. But with this there are a lot of efficiencies to be learned in how to best down-throttle during the frequent and long dead periods.

Nov 24th 2009 6:35PM The battery life improvements don't affect performance with the radio off. Apparently the efficiencies were entirely aimed at the wireless.

Nov 4th 2009 1:11AM No doubt. Since seeing the Kindle DX, I've wished I could print certain articles from my laptop to an e-ink reader, much like is done generating a PDF. Y'know... instead of killing trees 'n stuff.
