Editorial: Hey, AT&T -- drop lawsuits, not calls {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 13th 2009 5:43PM @Alex

I can't say that I go up to Lake Pleasant often. It's been a few years. Personally, I think that lake is trash! It's dirty and over populated. I like going up to Canyon, but no one gets cell service in there. lol As far as actually being in the city, I have very good coverage. And my 3G is faster than Verizon. I have no regrets about leaving Verizon and going with ATT for the past 4 years. That may change when LTE starts going around and now that Verizon is finally getting some good phones.

Editorial: Hey, AT&T -- drop lawsuits, not calls {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 13th 2009 2:06PM It really just comes down to which carrier works best network where you use it the most. If you travel a lot, you're probably going to want Verizon, so you'll have 3G in most places. I live in the Phoenix, Az area and don't have to travel much. When I do, it's to a large city and I've always had fast 3G with ATT, and not too many dropped calls. I left Verizon 4 years ago and haven't really looked back. This is just my personal choice. It's only going to get more interesting in the next few years when LTE will be rolled out and handsets will be able to take advantage of that. It's so stupid that we fight over carriers. Just pick what works best for you, plain and simple.

AT&T responds to Verizon's 3G ad campaign -- by bragging about EDGE {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 12th 2009 7:40PM It also doesn't help that the iPhone has a poor 3G chip. From my experience having been on AT&T for over 4 years now, my old Razr2 got a better 3G signal and dropped less calls than my iPhone 3G does. With that aside, AT&T could pull a Verizon and upgrade EDGE to 3G, however, there are many people who like to buy unlocked phones from Europe that are only EDGE compatible, so I think that's the reason why there is still so much EDGE (I've had a few unlocked phone that only worked on EDGE). And I will also agree with klmsu19, that EDGE is a bit faster than 1X CDMA. If I'm stuck in a building with general poor reception (dropping me to EDGE), I can continue to stream Pandora, get and read e-mails... and while it is slower, I can live with that. But the Phoenix, Az area has good 3G coverage and it's rare that I'm on EDGE. Just my $.02. Sorry for the long comment.

AT&T's Data Connect overage rates much lower now, still too high {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 12th 2009 5:37PM @ Chris Ziegler

Does this apply to those of us that are already in contract? Or is this just for new people singing up? Thanks!

Hey, Google: failing to spellcheck Android 2.0 can have 'undesireable consequences' {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 11th 2009 12:27PM I couldn't agree more. I must have read it 3 times before I noticed the error. lol I've still got 2 more years to go on my engineering degree...

AT&T intros USBConnect Lightning for 7.2Mbps service {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 9th 2009 5:29PM @ Chris Ziegler

Have you come across a more recent list of what cities will have 7.2 rolled out this year? And which cities will have it next year? I'd really like to know when the Phoenix, Az area will be lit up? Thanks!

Verizon's HTC Droid Eris to run Android 1.5 on a 528MHz CPU {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 27th 2009 5:43PM I had a feeling that the specs would be the same as all the other "Hero"s. The only thing this has going for it over the Moto Droid is that is doesn't have a keyboard (some people don't need them) and that it will have Sense UI. But with the faster processor, bigger screen, better GPU and 2.0, I'd take the Droid!

Second Verizon Android phone to be an HTC, Motorola Sholes makes an appearance {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 6th 2009 2:40PM @ Scott (different Scott btw) lol

The Hero doesn't use an Arm Processor. It uses Qualcomm® MSM7200A™, 528 MHz processor (junk!). It's also the same processor that's in Sprint's Hero.

iPhone MMS is now live! {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 25th 2009 6:29PM Pictures are going through with my iPhone 3G and I'm getting them. But if they are of a large size, they're having trouble going through. The servers are having a hard time with the amount that's being sent. Try sending smaller files first. I just got my first large file to work. And I'm jailbroken using 3.0.1

AT&T slips some iPhone MMS rollout details for Friday {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 23rd 2009 4:38PM This is just a carrier update. As long as you're on at least 3.0, your MMS will work, because MMS was apart of 3.0. I too am waiting for the jailbreak of 3.1. I've read that there are some battery issues with 3.1, so I may just wait for the next update. But we should be good to go if you're at least at 3.0
