Sonar hopes to power social featurephones, we get a demo {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 29th 2009 8:48PM They mentioned a numeric keypad, which I would assume, since it is mostly useless for anything else, would be for dialing.

Mobile OS shootout: iPhone OS 3.0 enters the fray {Engadget}

Mar 22nd 2009 2:19PM --I thought adaptability meant that iphoneOS runs only on a few Apple Devices, unlike WM(>30 devices?) and Android(>10 devices?) which run on whatever.
--Many people like WebOS because of the videos and developer manual, which shows a lot about it.
--The notification pop-ups/tray are a personal thing, but I would assume that if one OS had both optional, most users who tried both would strongly prefer tray. And I would assume you never had multitasking or good copy-paste on a smartphone, and are thus utterly incapable of missing it.

>>>"As someone noted, Apple (or Pre or WinMo btw) does not aim for us here. I'm an early adopter and I can get around. But when all of my employees (from the girl on economy to the last traveling perosnell) can handle the phone, check email, use wifi, surf --- and NO support (other than a broken glass) well ... that's says something. And how can the crappy iPhone take 65% of all mobile surfing?"
--No idea what you are saying there, but a good device should have a learning curve. Generally, the more learning curve means better productivity after spending a couple days. I am not saying this applies in all cases, and I'm not saying that any of the other phones have much of a learning curve either. And as discussed earlier, iPhone has a large market share because of pretty buttons and extensive marketing.

Nokia 2605 Mirage comes to Verizon, disappears as you approach it {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 6th 2008 7:37PM *actually, it said nokia 2605 then 2065... oops.
I messed that one up because it looks exactly like my nokia 6205.

Nokia 2605 Mirage comes to Verizon, disappears as you approach it {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 5th 2008 9:24PM First, they said 6205 and then 6025.
Second, that looks almost exactly the same as the Nokia 6205 I got on Saturday for free with a two-year plan from verizon.
Third, Firefox dictionary doesn't recognize "Nokia".

Multi-finger MacBook trackpad gestures demonstrated on video {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2008 6:42PM but it doesn't have a middle click. I practically use that more than left click. And would mouse gestures work, or would I end up reading engadget upside-down? Also, the three-finger one looks useless. and the four-finger would be better as a button/keyboard-shortcut.

Nov 9th 2008 10:13PM @os ex boy - did you, by any chance, see his icon?

Nov 9th 2008 10:12PM did you, by any chance, see his icon?

Ubuntu 8.10 now available for download {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2008 9:46PM the question is already answered, but the "less clearly legal" repository you want would, I believe, be under system > preferences >software sources then check multi-verse and universe and restricted and the other one.

Sprint's HTC Touch Pro now available for purchase online, as promised {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2008 9:39PM Why couldn't it have android? Is it something with open source drivers, or why did the phone with android have to look ugly while this one looks great?
