Editorial: Chrome OS is what I want, but not what I need {Engadget}

Nov 20th 2009 3:13PM Well stated article Paul. I have just begun to play around with the
VMware image of Chrome and although it beautifully integrates all of
Google's services into a nice central "cloud" based OS, I still need
the full functionality of Ubuntu and Windows. You can never fully
replace a lot of the functionality that businesses rely on in a
full-blown OS. Depending on your target audience, I think Google can
market this towards a lot of noobs who just browse youtube and check email all day. But you said it best in the article, it will probably
never replace a full featured OS.

Welcome to the next Engadget {Engadget}

Nov 19th 2009 11:37AM After reading the Engadget I know and love for nearly two years this was definitely a bit of a shocker when I first saw the homepage but I definitely like it! And it's definitely over-due for an overhaul! Very nice design guys, well done!

NVIDIA's Fermi-based GeForce 100 GPU makes a Twitter appearance {Engadget}

Nov 18th 2009 12:08PM Agreed, I don't think this would fit in my current mid-ATX case. My current GTX 260 barely fits as it is! This GPU is a work of wonders from Nvidia; now if only I had a gigantic full ATX case to throw it in. Time to upgrade!

Palm Pre WebOS 1.3.1 update available now {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2009 5:07PM i've had same issues where i would delete a conversation and then it would re-appear or not delete at all. i've even had a few conversations completely disappear and it would not show up in the list of conversations. what would happen is i would send someone a message, and then it would not show up in the list, then they would send me a message and i would be able to see the conversation again then i would back out of the conversation and it would disappear. Then I realized if I search for the name of the person I was having the conversation with it would reappear as I searched for it. But that is just inconvenient sometimes. They should really fix those messaging issues.

Palm Pre WebOS 1.3.1 update available now {Engadget}

Nov 14th 2009 11:50AM Also, I noticed that in the phone app, the icon in the top right that you click on to access your contacts has changed.

Palm Pre WebOS 1.3.1 update available now {Engadget}

Nov 14th 2009 10:57AM Just finished updated and rebooted. Idk if its just my perception or just because its a fresh reboot, but the UI seems a tad snappier and I can switch between cards a bit faster. One of the really laggy apps I always had trouble with was the photos app and that seems to load the thumbnails a bit quicker as well. Definitely liking the feature of tapping a single text message in a conversation and having the option to forward, copy text, or delete. Is anyone else thinking they are experiencing a quicker rendering UI?

Palm Pre WebOS 1.3.1 update available now {Engadget}

Nov 14th 2009 10:34AM seriously that is not an issue. I downloaded the update in less than 15 minutes on an EV-DO connection. Sprint has the available bandwidth to handle it. No big deal. I personally, love the fact that I don't have to connect my phone to a PC, download the update, push it to the phone and wait. This way I can download and apply an update without being tied to a PC if I'm out and about no where near a PC.

Editorial: Hey, AT&T -- drop lawsuits, not calls {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2009 3:30PM Well stated Chris. AT&T needs to work on improving their network and the reliability. They have the funding, now put some of that funding towards resources that will help decrease number of calls dropped and increase 3G coverage. AT&T 3G reaches 75 percent of the U.S. population, but that doesn't mean 75 percent of coverage area. 75 percent of their 3G customers reside in cities where 3G is rolled out. The other 25 percent of the population lives in rural areas where Verizon and Sprint do in fact have EV-DO Rev A coverage (I live in WI, and Sprint and Verizon have excellent EV-DO coverage, AT&T 3G only covers Madison and Milwaukee).

REPORT: Jeep Wrangler safe from CARB "Cool Cars" proposal {Autoblog}

Oct 26th 2009 12:54AM Lets hope manufacturers only keep these updated window regulations in the state of CA. What about those of us that live in northern states? We welcome as much free head from the sun as possible during the winter months. I sure dont want to block out heat from entering my car, then i'll just have to crank up the heat more instead! Its a bogus regulation.

The Engadget Show: Inside Ben Heck's magic kingdom {Engadget}
