Blockbuster kiosks to offer movies on SD cards, you some candy as you checkout {Engadget HD}

Nov 12th 2009 4:11PM What's the resolution? What's the codec? What's the average time to transfer a movie? What devices can play them? So far everything I've seen on this is all questions and no answers. Obviously this is DOA; it might have worked a few years back, maybe...

Ask Engadget: Best wireless touchpad / trackpad? {Engadget}

Nov 6th 2009 12:28AM The "Targus AMP11US Bluetooth Presenter for Mac" is not a trackpad, but its generally close in function otherwise. I got one a while back to play around with, and it definitely works, although I haven't used it heavily.

When I got my new Magic Mouse the other day and started to try it out, my IMMEDIATE reaction was gee it would be cool if Apple implemented a "trackpad mode" option for it, where you could spin it around 180 degrees, use the surface like a trackpad mouse, and click with your thumb. However I suspect that its touch surface is not nearly as sensitive as an actual trackpad.

But note that Bluetooth just doesn't work well over wide distances or through walls; there might be problems even across a large room.

Ballmer: Windows Mobile 7 should have been out, like, yesterday {Engadget}

Sep 24th 2009 8:56PM "There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance." Steve Ballmer, April 30 2007

"Wired: So what do you think of Windows Mobile?

Foley: I've avoided it like the plague. Every time I get a new cellphone, everyone always warns me not to get Windows Mobile. The thing's awful. I think Windows Mobile is a huge challenge for them. " Microsoft syncophant Mary Jo Foley, May 08 2008

"Long story short, this is too little too late... The iPhone will be in its third generation by the time Microsoft's partners get around to shipping Windows Mobile 6.5-based phones... Windows Mobile 6.5, itself, is an interim solution created on the fly as a response to the iPhone... Microsoft can talk up 20,000 apps all it wants. Virtually none of them are any good. Plus the disparity of Windows Mobile hardware types means that these things won't work consistently across devices." Microsoft syncophant Paul Thurrott, Feb 17 2009

Macs "still" just work when connected to an HDTV {Engadget HD}

Nokia E72 exhaustively reviewed ahead of launch {Engadget}

Aug 6th 2009 7:35PM Sure am glad that my E71x has the English keyboard! Some day I'll break down and get an iPhone, but currently I still MUCH prefer a physical keyboard over the touch, and I'm amazed at how much I use this phone for Internet access.
