You should see the Bell stores here in Canada. There are barely any signs of the Palm Pre's existence, both figuratively and literally. My local Bell store has replaced the Palm pedestal and Pre signage with the iPhone equivalents. The local Telus hasn't gone that far, but they just hide the CDMA phones in the back of the store wile all the new HSPA phones get a neon green 3G+ treatment

Just because a canadian carrier prices the pre that low does not mean Sprint in the US will do the same. Will the Pixi even be landing on Bell?

I've talked with several employees at different Bell stores and they are barely selling any Palm Pre's. Many said they've only sold a few, maybe a dozen or so. They've got them stacked high in the storage room and are saying that even if they go to $0 they don't think they'll move...kind of sad!

Don't expect Sprint to follow. Currently with the introduction Bell Mobility's HSPA+ network the Palm Pre is no longer the BIG Boy device - new devices like the iPhone, BlackBerry Bold and others will definitely take a lot of wind from under the Pre's wings.
Sprint does not have these factors to consider...

I think there's a bit too much gloom and doom relating to the Palm posts lately. The Pre launch in the US was solid. not spectacular, but solid. The generation 1 Pre with WebOS 1.0 was quite polished, and they're putting energy into updating and optimizing the OS like I've never seen from Palm. Comparing generation 1 WebOS devices (Pre, Pixi) to generation 1 Android devices (G1, MyTouch, Eris) the WebOS devices are definitely more refined. The challenge is that generation 2 Android devices like the Droid are out now for everyone to see, so the naysayers come crawling out of the woodwork. Palm has support from Elevation Partners to go for quite a while as long as they keep doing what they're doing. Let's wait and see what the response from Palm is. Considering how great the Pre is as a first shot with WebOS, I'm excited to see what they can do now that they have a little momentum. (Here's hoping they have a response at CES this year...)

On the same note though, I don't think i've ever seen someone using one outside of the sprint store. it doesn't have a wow factor with a small screen, and the pixi looks ugly. put a 4 inch screen on it, srop the koyboard and make it spender, then you have a product.

I live in Canada, and while I've seen lots of iPhones and lots of Android phones in the wild, I've seen exactly one Palm Pre. Heck, there were more iPhone 2G's in people's hands here, before they were officially available, than there are Pre's which can be bought in many locations. Doesn't look good, regardless of how solid the platform is.
