Verizon is making no secret about which Android device it wants to make waves this week -- that'd be the
DROID from Motorola -- but there's another model that'll be available the same day with one-tenth the fanfare: HTC's
DROID ERIS. Codenamed
Desire ahead of launch, the phone is essentially Verizon's custom remix of the venerable Hero as found on Sprint and various GSM carriers around the world, featuring a 5 megapixel camera, 3.2-inch capacitive display, WiFi, 3.5mm headphone jack, and microSD expansion up to 16GB. Check it out in your local store hiding somewhere in the shadow of the DROID starting Friday for $99.99 on contract after a $100 mail-in rebate, which -- if you can forgo a physical keyboard, faster processor, and high-res display -- works out to a cool hundred less than Moto's entry.

now thats just a slap in the face to sprint, i better hear of a price drop by next week for sprint htc hero otherwise, i'll feel they b*tched out here

thatguy: Not really. Verizon is still $1100 more (before tax) w/ a 2 years contract.

My thoughts exactly. For me, a family plan on Verizon would run $179.97 a month for 1400 minutes shared and the smartphone/pda data plan. On Sprint, I can get 1500 minutes with unlimited everything else and unlimited calling to any mobile for $129.99 a month.
$50 a month x 24 months = $1200 extra I'd have to pay to be with Verizon.

This is the best phone i've ever had. Droid Eris! for 100$ you just cant beat it.
Everything is so fast. No Lag. Great browser, Google maps - Train times/Bus Routes, multi touch on webapges, Battery Lasts ALLLLLLLL day (: Did I mention the Endless AP's. I just downloaded Pandora and it doesnt drain my battery like other phones used to... and to think android 2.0 may be coming... If it does - Great! if it doesnt It really doesnt Matter. this phone does it all....

WOW droid does a price drop again? What could be more sweeter than that.. So wait around for 1 month and see droid drop's it price again.. maybe to 100 USD only? That will be insane
