Say "AWS-compliant Nokia" and the first thing many folks are going to be thinking about right now is the mighty N900, but yeah, that's not what T-Mobile's getting around to launching today. Instead, it's the
3711 that we first met back in early October, offering a QVGA primary display, 2 megapixel camera, GPS, and FM radio in a smooth little clamshell package that'll run $69.99 on an Even More contract after rebate or $159.99 on Even More Plus. It's available now -- just don't expect to be running
Maemo on this bad boy and you should be fine.

Did you receive a test unit from T-Mobile? I am interested in this for a family member who doesn't need a smartphone, but not a single site is covering this handset. I guess I will have to make a trek down to the T-Mobile store and check it out first hand.

Why does this phone offer 3G support? I'm really confused here. Does 3G improve call quality also or something? Please, fill me in.

Also, how does it offer GPS? This is also something I've been wondering about for a while. I thought all GPS stuff was driven through apps with paid services.

3G gives you faster data transfer (good when you surf on the web), GPS can be used free of charge (for Google or Nokia Maps for example)but you need to pay for a licence if you want to use the navigation software.

So then this thing has a web browser? Obviously not as robust as a smartphone though right?

opera mini can run on any S40 phone (like this one) and is a pretty decent browser. opera mini is free, too

How does something like Opera Mini run? Can it only browse "mobile" pages or can it look at anything?
