Apple's App Store breaks 100,000 apps
Look, App Store, we just wanted to take this opportunity to say we're sorry about all the fart app jokes. We know it's not easy being a new App Store, making your way in the world, and when juxtaposed against the struggles your competition has had with putting together a compelling app gathering, we know now that our words in those early days were hurtful and lacking in understanding. With 100,000 apps in your store and over two billion downloads, we hope you can be the bigger man here and forgive us. Also, if you have any tips for improving our Canabalt score that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

What does the total number of apps means?
Out of 100.000 a good 50% are farting and burping apps (or equivalent), a good number are "babe of the day" apps and an incredible amount consist of lame jokes apps.
The total number of apps on Android market is somewhat lower, but not only the near totality is actually useful, but the quality of the FREE apps is really surprising: 5 or 6 Free sat nav -door to door programs, at lest as many excellent augmented reality apps, a dozen of top notch translators (many with voice recog.) lotsa multimedia players some of them truly unique, special effects and zoom for camera and videocam, etc, etc.

I totally agree with Plexus.........The most part of Apple's App Store is only garbage!
They should create another one, with only "tested and approved by editor" apps.

I agree previous commenters that 100,000 app total is complete BS... however... in all fairness... there are plenty of lame joke, "soundboards" and other lame apps in the Android Store as well. But... in Android's case, since as long as it is not a virus posing as an app (in theory anyway) it is approved, that is at least understandable. But since Apple "approves" their apps, and stops such Vile apps as Google Voice, podcaster and other evil apps that "duplicate functionality"... you can't help but wonder how the heck does iFart, iPoop, and other such nonsense get approved in such numbers?
Paul... what exactly are you apologizing for? 100,000 apps doesn't make it impressive... it makes it bloated, and hard to find the 1,000 or so apps that are actually useful.

WHO CARES!!! I'm an iPhone user and the fact that the iPhone now has 100,000 apps does nothing for me. 1 out of every 10,000 apps is useful to me.

Did the 100,000 app maker win something?
