I think Sony would be better off releasing a multimedia device (like the iPodTouch), but have it running on Android.

i hope it will integrate sony's MediaGo... so the movies i bought for my psp/ps3/vaio will be fully compatible. anyone know anything about this??

The only handset that is known to do this so far is the Aino.
I don't think even rumours have gone as far as to suggest that Rachael will be able to do this.
Of course, it's always possible that even if the functionality isn't available at launch, that SE can release an app later on.

My guess would be NO... and only highlights why I will have nothing to do with Sony (and any of their joint ventures)... unique, proprietary, worthless, stupid, DRM that doesn't even work within their own ecosystem.

MediaGO appeared first for the SE phones and then trickled down to other Sony products. Almost every modern SE phone supports MediaGO now. They have been using microSD for more than half a year. There is NO DRM associated with SE phones in any way.
Get a clue.

Apologies, yeah, was confusing the MediaGo feature with Aino's remote PS3 access.
It looks like MediaGo is, in fact, available as a software download for your PC and is compatible with a lot of different handsets.
Of course, with this being the first Android handset from SE, we'll have to wait and see whether they've been able to tweak the service to be compatible with this new OS.
As for getting a clue however, apart from the K850 (which could use either MicroSD OR M2 cards) and the X1, the only SE handsets that use MicroSD cards are ones that have been released in the last month or so.

As I say, with the caveat that it may well be fake, it would seem to confirm the WVGA screen resolution, the use of a Snapdragon CPU and the 32GB of internal storage and also seems to suggest that Rachael will have HD video recording as well.
Even if that last part is wrong, if the other stuff is all correct then the Droid is going to be rendered obsolete before it's even released.

Dude, this video was released some time ago on gsmarena, where they explained that HD bit was just a marketing move, referring to still images being captured at 1080p (that's 2mp, big deal...).
Aside from that I agree with you totally. This mobile has all the cards to be the best handset around (if you are looking for an android device that is).
Let's hope it won't have any major issues...

After your last post I did try searching GSMArena but couldn't seem to find that page at all. Odd.
I see what they're saying and I was a little surprised at the FullHD logo but I'd be quite happy if it even recorded 720p like the OmniaHD.
Heck, even D1 would be preferable to VGA but I'll be just a touch disappointed if it doesn't have HD video.
Still, not long 'til we find out now and, as I said previously, even if it lacks HD video (boo, hiss) it'll still be the best Android handset around, no question.

You mean the rest of the world? The Moto droid/sholes is a CDMA phone, not likely to be anywhere outside of the US for quite a while.

That is awesome ...the media is done right and it seems to be simpler than the iPod interface. That could be a game changer i already want it. But the iphone will be hard to beat because of apps.....Make sure the hardware is on tap and it should be interesting....

Although I find the animations a bit cheesy but what I like about these they don't look like Android at all! Sony Ericsson has done pretty good job in that!
