Motorola DROID spotted in fine GSM form (video)

While the newly launched DROID is keeping us plenty busy, we'd be remiss if we didn't hep you to this hands-on video that's recently popped up on the YouTubes. Of Vietnamese origin, we do believe that this is the first GSM version of the phone we've caught on tape. All seems to be going well until about 2 minutes 7 seconds, when the viewer encounters a considerable lag in between gesturing to open the app drawer and the event itself. But don't take our word for it -- see for yourself after the break.

lol this is so awesome considering how many millions in ads verizon has put behind their 'exclusive' deal for it. looks like itll be easy to import. karma for them stealing sprints pre thunder early on?

Why didn't Verizon use this color scheme instead of the one the actually decided to use? Oh well, still getting it.

Has anyone read the first sentence of this post? "While the newly launched DROID is keeping us plenty busy...."
are you kidding me? when the iphone was announced or even updated a couple of months ago,i sure remembered seeing a minute by minute coverage of the whole deal. but for as big as the Droid is suppose to be, Engadget has a couple of post covering the deal...
You guys need to spread the love a little bit.

The lagg is clearly from the boot up. After everything is loaded the performance is back to normal. What's kind of concerning is that the slider doesn't look spring loaded.

yeah. it's clearly startup lag. it's loading background services while giving you a ui to use as fast as possible. i think it's been like that since at least 1.5 if not 1.0

Terribly laggy, wtf?! This reminds me of how laggy my old G1 got to after a couple months worth of use. In fact, it might be worse than my G1. Why oh why did Motorola downclock the OMAP 3430????

Watching this video just killed my desire for this phone. with 20 other android devices coming out in the next 6 months, I think I will wait. I was ready to buy a s. american model, unlock it and use it on att. But this thing is too slow.

Look to pictures from http://www.tinhte.com/forum/t295933/ (they made this video preview)
The headset is not brand new. It is full of scratches and dust.
Probably an old engineering sample, not the final product.
Taknarosh @ Oct 28th 2009 2:23PM
Just looking at the D-Pad it is obviously not the same version as the one Verzion has been showing so far today.

Geez, talk about over reacting by some of you people...

Call me crazy but as important as specs are a phone should look good too and this is the ugliest phone I've ever seen. I mean from a looks perspective its horrible. Who would carry this with any pride? I mean even the slide seems awkward. Verizon for years has had good phones but all ugly as sin. Do you even get any say in your product Big Red?

Is that a pinch zoom I see?

Great news for me here in Asia. Been following the development of the phone for awhile. Great to know that there'll be a GSM version out!
