Windows Mobile 6.5.1 (or whatever it's called) looking ready for primetime
Even before 6.5 got official, the Windows Mobile community has been toying around with post-RTM leaked builds that really amp up the finger-friendliness -- thing is, no one seems to know what it is, what it's called, when it's coming, who will get it, or how it meshes with the upcoming release of WinMo 7 next year. For now, it's being informally called 6.5.1 -- sounds like a fair name to us -- and new mockups floating around suggest that Microsoft really wants to bridge the gap and make major user experience modifications to 6.5; the pre-7 platform hasn't yet reached the end of the road, apparently. Big buttons at the bottom of the screen look like they should be usable by even the fattest of fingers on a resistive display (and indeed, we've seen various forms of these in leaked builds) and interface elements throughout the OS have been spruced up to finally put the stylus to bed. We'll take it, but we would've been happy to take it in lieu of 6.5, too.

hope this will be on the HD 2 by default :) ...but it seems that this WinMo 6.8 is planned for february.

It would be nice, but doubtful this will be on the HD2. HTC did so much with the HD2 that you can't actually turn off Sense UI since the UI adds so much to the basic functionality: pinch to zoom, WM responding to a capacitive screen, etc. So there's no point in putting this on the HD2 if the final ROM will be done beforehand. And even if it does make it to the HD2, you won't see much of it anyway because Sense UI will cover it up.

@Who?
The HTC UI for win mobile OSs is called TouchFLO , Sense UI is the UI HTC has developed for its Android systems.
Although HTC has declared that in the future (probably with win7 mob.) newer versions of SenseUI will substitute Touch FLO also on its Win. Mob. products,the HD2 (which I have preordered and should hopefully receive in 8 days) will sport a new, sprouced up version of TouchFLO, and to tell you the truth , even though I love SenseUI+Android on my Hero, I am happier that way.

Actually you're wrong. check the reviews and specs. the HD2 is running the Sense UI along with US Cellular's version of the Touch Pro 2.
Check the TP2's specs here:

It's the first basic feature.

Excellent. i've been using a leaked 6.5.1 ROM and i can't go back to 6.5. i'm actually about to switch to TAEL's latest ROM tomorrow. It's not like in the current ROMs there a huge difference, but having the OK buttons larger and at the bottom of the screen make one-handed use so much easier. i doubt the HD2 will release with 6.5.1, but with a hopefully official upgrade, it'll be a darn near perfect WinMo device for me.
@Who?
i'm guessing HTC will release a ROM update for 6.5.1 which will include whatever drivers or whatever enable the capacitive screen to interact with Windows Mobile. The biggest problems i've encountered with 6.5.1 on my Fuze are the fact that the taskbar is a few pixels shorter, which requires a separate small utility (manilafix.exe) to move the TouchFlo 3D interface up to compensate. This also means that it's harder to tap the taskbar particularly on a small screen like the Fuze's.

Any upgrade is welcomed. Although I am still waiting for my 6.5 upgrade on my TP2 in SEA.
