Unofficial patch lets you hang up Palm Pre calls by closing the slider
You know how easy and natural it is to hang up a call on a cellphone by sliding it closed or flipping it shut? It's a small satisfaction that's been lost on touchscreen-only phones, but it would seem to still make sense on something like, say, the Palm Pre -- just not to Palm, it seems. Well, it looks like unofficial patch maker KeyToss has now finally stepped in and done what Palm hasn't, and produced a patch that does nothing more than let you end a call by closing the slider on your Pre. That is a nice feature, still going strong with my Android. Until it goes GSM at least. I just wish they were not sitting on the laurels and get the next device out. C'mon Palm. You can do it.

I'm sorry, but do you not know what "sitting on one's laurels" actually means? They've been releasing updates at breakneck speed (fairly major updates with an average of 2 months time between them), main device just released on 2 or 3 more carriers internationally with more to come before the year is up and a second device before the year is up (less than or around 6 months after the release of the first device). This doesn't even mention the rumors of a spec bumped Pre to come before too long. Let's be serious here.

Does the slider have to be open to accept a call? If not then I could see why they left this out. Doesn't make sense if you can answer a call with out opening the slider.

Just ordered a Pre. I may try this.... nah, I probably won't.
You can get a pre for $75 if you're good at searching out phone deals. The pre is still the best deal for a next-gen smartphone out there. In my opinion, you must support multi-tasking without voiding a warranty to be a smartphone - sorry iphone users. Plus the Pre doesn't require you to drop an extra $99 for a GPS app and sprint rolls GPS into the data plan.
Now what it really needs is more stuff like this - APPS!
