HTC promised way back at
Mobile World Congress in February that the
Touch Pro2 would be fully upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when the binaries went gold, and... well, here we are. Sure enough, they're making good on the promise by rolling out official updates for both the Touch Pro2 and the
Snap so far, though this is one of those situations where availability for your particular version of the phone is going to depend on carrier branding, locking, and the phase of the moon, among other things -- so if the updates don't work for you, you can wait for your carrier to get in gear or, you know, try your luck over with the always-helpful xda-developers to roll your own update.

good. maybe this is a sign that Verizon may get their's back in stock now (assuming of course they were waiting on the official 6.5 update). i've seriously been waiting for weeks for this thing to be available agin but they are taking thier sweet time.
patrad781 @ Oct 13th 2009 6:25PM
So how long do we still have to wait for this to go back on Verizon's shelves? It's been too long of a wait.

Wow a company that executes on its promises. How refreshing is that?

Thats not fair that my tmobile touch pro2 cant uprgrade to windows mobile 6.5, can i know why ?
Poke4Christ @ Oct 13th 2009 7:15PM
my money's betting that we won't see the US carrier versions of this update until November. I love Sprint, but it sucks not yet having the HardSPL completed for ROM flashing.
ThePengwin @ Oct 14th 2009 1:20AM
seeing as they are essentially the same phones, would you just be able to stop the check of the device ID to make it continue with the flashing?
dom @ Oct 13th 2009 8:46PM
this upgrade is not for the VZW TP2... when i eneter my s/n it its not for this device....
Jason @ Oct 14th 2009 3:50PM
It doesn't seem to work for Sprint either. Validation on my S/N fails.
Pencreus @ Oct 13th 2009 8:39PM
Is this going to have the updated TouchFLO 3D as well?
Poke4Christ @ Oct 13th 2009 10:41PM
reports on that are a big no. it has touchflo 2.1. You'll need to load a custom rom to get 2.5.
danhawk911 @ Oct 13th 2009 10:16PM
what about us touch pro 1 people.
ShogunMaster @ Oct 13th 2009 11:08PM
Go custom rom for the TP1. There is a new EnergyROM that just came out today that rocks. Here is the CDMA version:

Not sure if you've already unlocked your phone already or not, but that's easy enough too...

Head on over to xda. The chefs there are amazing. Been running 6.5 on my Fuze for quite a while now.

Weird seeing the this utility without a hacked logo ;-)

So anyways, Engadget hasn't taken my tip. But for those interested for the Pro 2 on ATT (Tilt 2), it is currently available as an upgrade option to premier (corporate) members. Just ordered mine yesterday Oct 13 and it is currently being shipped.
Jmel @ Oct 14th 2009 3:41PM
I dont think anyone seriously wants 6.5 yet... not until ms actually finishes it... I have a samsung intrepid and the o/s screams beta...
patrad781 @ Oct 15th 2009 2:06PM
I spoke too soon! Verizon is back in stock! :-)
