HTC Imagio with WinMo 6.5 out October 6 on Verizon?

As you know, Verizon is one of the carriers participating in the worldwide WinMo 6.5 rollout extravaganza bonanza on October 6, and that Microsoft has said they'll be ramping up to thirty smartphones for the OS by year's end, so the chance is pretty good that the HTC Imagio XV6975 is one of the new handsets we'll be seeing early next month. As reported by PhoneArena, this one is by all accounts Leo's little brother -- a CDMA / GSM device that sports a 3.6-inch WVGA display, 528MHz processor, Wi-Fi, Opera browser, 5 megapixel autofocus camera, microSD slot, and all the TouchFLO 3D lovin' you can handle. In addition, it will also be the first Verizon Smartphone to sport VCast MobileTV -- you know, if that's what you're into. No word on pricing or release date, but you'll know as soon as we do.

atleast they are getting better phones than what they used to have. No flash, and 528MHz processor? meh, no thanks.
Still waiting on the Omnia II verizon, lets go buds.

iPhone, Palm and Android phones won't be coming out until LTE is geared up.

@GFofADRochNYVZW
I can understand the iPhone waiting for LTE - what makes you think Android and Palm would need to wait? They both already run on 3G/CDMA networks.

Well, I'm glad I've got my touch pro2. really the only thing that this has over it is the camera. TP2 has same screen, physical keyboard, and a GSM radio in the CDMA version. Definitly glad I got it.
Now, if someone would just make an android phone with the TP2 hardware, a Capacitive screen, and a better camera we'd have the perfect phone. The only thing that could get better would be memory and processor, but we will always be able to say that. Could even say the same thing about the camera argument.

What is up with that stupid "kickstand"?
"Hey, why does your digital photo frame have all those buttons on it?"
"Because it's actually my phone..."
"That's stupid."

Can anyone tell me if this phone is actually worth it? I'm thinking of either the HTC Touch Pro 2 or this.
tmarks11 @ Sep 29th 2009 12:47PM
Since this is really just a TP2 without a keyboard (not a shrunked Leo with a different processor, different screen, different everything) you really need to ask yourself if you want to trade the keyboard in to get a device that is maybe 4mm thinner. I prefer the keyboard (especially since there is no d-pad on this thing).
Some people call this thing a brick, but it is thinner then most of the flip phones that I have owned.
3.2 MP vs. 5 MP camera? Who cares. They both take horrible pictures when compared to a real digital camera.
Sure, it is running WinMo 6.5 and TuchFlo 3D, but so will your TP2 with a little bit of time.
Plexus @ Sep 29th 2009 1:37PM
No , it is not worth.
This is solgt in Europe as the "Touch2" and it's far worse than my 1 year old TouchHD.
It's aimed at those who whish they could afford the Leo but to whom life has'nt been nice.
Me I'm still waiting for the Leo, my HTC Hero, and my faithful TouchHD keep me happy in the meantime
Who? @ Sep 29th 2009 1:45PM
@Plexus. You're wrong; this is not the Touch2.
Plexus @ Sep 29th 2009 2:30PM
@Who
I think it is.
Look at specs, american mobile companies such as Verizon, for some reason like to change and ruin cellphones looks (look at the violence done to the Hero's looks in the US) but the specs of this thing are the same of the failphone that here gets sold as the touch2, which together with the abominable tattoo is something HTC should have avoided to build.

Nice phone. Who ever decided that VZW TV was worthy of a dedicated button is an idiot abd should be fired.
Dorf @ Sep 29th 2009 2:55PM
I image you can set the button to anything you want, just like every other HTC PDA out there.
000000 @ Sep 29th 2009 4:51PM
Sometimes you can't(easily) change the button mapping. And I agree about firing the guy/gal who decided that. The problem is these suits get so wrapped up in their own ideologies and egos. Do they even read tech forums?
TrueEddie @ Sep 29th 2009 12:38PM
HTC must have a warehouse full of those 528MHz processors.
Don Boogie @ Sep 29th 2009 12:40PM
Looks like a bootleg iphone.
jorgewreaks @ Sep 29th 2009 4:43PM
verizon sucks
ips0fakto @ Sep 29th 2009 6:35PM
i'll take this over the touch, anyday!
mark @ Sep 29th 2009 8:57PM
I traded my 1month old BB Tour for the TP2, had the TP2 for 2wks, will never go back to another BB, like others have said, who cares about 3MP vs. 5MP.... we will never use it to print pictures anyway..... besides I prefer to have a physical keyboard option.......
