I'm thinking of buying myself my first smartphone with a data plan as a graduation gift this coming June. My ever so frugal father is suggesting I wait for 4G. I've been lusting after the Palm Pre since CES last year, and I'm not so keen on waiting that long. Is there anything in the Engadget Mobile crystal ball that would convince me to wait?
Great show this week...It'll be even better if I can say the same thing next week. ;)

No need for a crystal ball. Don't wait for 4G because it's going to be awhile unless you're looking at Sprint and even Sprint doesn't have a 4G phone out there yet. Plus, when Sprint finally DOES come out with a 4G phone it will probably only be 1 or 2 models. If you don't like those 1 or 2 models, then you waited a long time for nothing.
In the gadget world if you wait for the next best thing you'll be waiting forever.
