top 5?
that gives us HTC, samsung, apple, rim or lg (since moto gave up on windows mobile until windows mobile 7)
anyways windows mobile? that eliminates apple and rim
that leaves us with samsung, lg and HTC
samsung just announced their omnia series with the amoled screen and all that other fancy stuff. im going to eliminate them from launching another high powered device. if anything they would have included it in their omnia series.
that now leaves us with lg and htc. I just dont see LG ready to take that leap yet with windows mobile.
That leaves us with HTC. the company whose roadmap leaked with nvidia powered phones. so this is the logical scenario but it could be LG but i think thats a long shot

And what about sony ericsson, aren't they in the top5 ?
Apart from the top5 i hope motorola will release a good hardware for android soon.

Not LG? What about their comment during MWC that WinMo will be their primary platform and that they'll be releasing 50 different phones by 2012.

I sent news to engadgetmobile today that the french smartphone director of acer confirmed the release of a high end smartphone under android before christmas in france !! Which should mean at last excellent hardware for the deserving android.
could that be the acer a1 you guys were talking about a few months ago ? :)

sony ericsson is not a top 5 smartphone maker. they released the xperia 1 too late after announcing it. the xperia 2 looks ugly.
matter of fact all theirp hones look the same (dumbphones) and this is why they are bleeding cash.
nokia i did forget them but to be honest north america doesnt really care about them. i know some people will get defensive about this. but its a reality. nokia seems to be all about using their own things i cant see them doing this at all

Yea i saw their comment but their first windows mobile phone was ugly and looked like something out of palm pilot days.
LG seems to be in love with dumbphones. i cant blame them but id be surprised if it was LG. thats all its likely HTC but its possibly LG

I guess it depends whether these rumors are talking about a top5 manufacturer in usa or globally...
Realistically, this article rumor should be about windows mobile, which should be coupled with tegra apx2500, not android.

Mike Rayfield from nvidia said apx2600 which is the android version should arrive later, possibly in 2010. Which means that high end smartphone the smartphone division director of acer france was talking about could be powered by cortex a8 with powervr gpu or snapdragon ?
We know for sure acer is in for high end android device, great news !
What about HTC or samsung ? Or Motorola and sony ericson ? Hurry up guys...

HTC and samsung have their hands full. Nokia has that agreement with intel. I would bet on sony ericsson, they desperately need a hit with a phone, or LG. With winmo or android...

It's probably gonna be HTC anyway. They are pumping out a lot of smartphones anyway and tegra is the next logical step.
