so after watching the keynote, i'm still very happy buying a palm pre. still no multitasking on the iphone. so it looks like there are STILL two great brands of phones and providers for the smartphone user.
iPhone (last gen): $99 plus 2 yr contract 450 minutes w/ data and text unlimited: $2,259.75 Palm Pre: $199 plus 2 yr contract 450 minutes w/ data and text unlimited: $1,879.75
Savings = $380
You can pay the iPhone premium to Apple and AT&T, but you'll be wasting your money for phone that is long since past cool and a subpar 3G network.

Lol, enjoy those 18 apps, pal.

To think that is all the apps the Pre will ever have is crazy. Palm has a far longer history of successful third party apps.
Sprint also has a better 3G network (http://gizmodo.com/5111989/the-definitive-coast+to+coast-3g-data-test) and the price point (w/ contract) is $380 to $480 _cheaper_ over the life of the contract.

@skemme
Sorry but I was just looking at your post history. You sound like a huge Sprint corporate shill.
