Nokia Messaging graduates to S60 5th Edition

Well, if you're the proud owner of a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic -- which runs S60 5th edition, in case you don't keep up with that jazz -- you can now join the mobile pioneers using this free -- at least for now, for some -- service. So, if you've never heard of Nokia Messaging, it is an email aggregator that will connect to 10 different webmail accounts and put the mail all in one place on your handset. Nokia Messaging support thousands of email providers, includes support for HTML, Windows Live Hotmail, and can be configured via the app on the phone or from the web. So far, so fantastic, and it is a grand thing when a beta app graduates to the real world. Congrats Nokia, and congrats to all you 5800 owners out there, follow the read to get at it.

does anyone else see the irony in that you will receive a text message with a link to download the messaging software? O.o

No more ironic than using IE to download Firefox.

I installed nokia messagint on my 5800 and it appears that you cannot run mail for exchange and nokia messaging at the same time. it will not allow mail for exchange to sync. i suspect that may be because both apps are push email apps. I know that mail for exchange is built in to the messaging app in the new e75, but it does not appear to be built in to the messaging app for the 5800. anyone else have the same problem or know if there is a fix?

Tried both the beta, and this 'graduated' version and it's rubbish. Sometimes it says that Windows Live is an 'unsupported email' and doesn't sync, and when it does sync theres no visual notification when you get emails, and there STILL isn't any HTML support, regardless of what the website says.
It is a premature release and should have remained in beta until the bugs are ironed out. For a 'push' client it really pales in comparison to 'Mail for Exchange' which already ships with the phone. IMO thats really embarrasing!

I've been using (as a beta user) for awhile. I have my own domain and as a result, needed Nokia's assistance with the initial set up. I received better support for this "unsupported" application than I ever have for supposedly supported applications. It has worked incredibly well since I started using it, nearly 6 months ago. If people are on a windows exchange server, then just use the downloadable exchange app (which also works very well with my Nokia E71 at least). But if you don't have that luxury, this is an excellent option.

I gave this a try during the beta and it was OK - certainly a little bit nicer than the standard email handling program (what's *that* one called? Nokia's naming leaves something to be desired)...
... BUT, the vague threats that they will start charging for this as a service really turned me off. Seriously, charging for me to get to my email?
