Verizon's Nationwide Plus Mexico plan lets you call south on the cheap
If you're making a lot of calls to Mexico, you may have glanced at MetroPCS' dirt-cheap $3 add-on package -- but the problem there is that you're only getting unlimited calling to landlines. If your contacts down south are tied to their mobiles (aren't we all?), you might be better off checking out Verizon's new Nationwide Plus Mexico plan, which nixes long distance charges to landlines and mobiles in Mexico alike. Individual plans start at $54.99 and family plans at $84.99, including 1,000 night and weekend minutes; unlimited mobile-to-mobile only applies in the US, but it still seems like a reasonable deal if you're a heavy dialer.[Via Phone Scoop]

What's lame is this same plan used to include both Mexico AND Canada for the exact same price, now you get one or the other, but not both.

I had North American Plan, Just changed to this one! $5 cheaper, unlimited mobile to mobile, now you can buy ANY new phone and not be restricted to old ones like before, employee discount becomes effective, by far way better. Canada dialing not needed from mobile, I will use my house phone if I ever need it.

Does this include roaming in Mexico if I picked that? That would be perfect if that were so
agentoj @ May 27th 2009 10:16PM
Yeah you can go to mexico and make calls to other people in mexico or to people in the US, the minutes are taken from your pool of minutes. Oh yeah and they don't charge roaming in the US or mexico
ramiro @ May 17th 2009 2:52PM
No roaming charges, I also heard that you could text for no extra charge

I currently have the North American's Choice plan that has not been offered for a while but I was grandfathered in. With this new plan there is one caveat, you have to split the minutes used in half, one half while in Mexico and the other while in the US. If I'm not mistaken this does not include any of the "Unlimited Minutes" used to other Verizon phones or the 5 number you can have with "Unlimited Minutes" that are outside of the Verizon Network. I'm still debating if this one issue will really matter to me with the usage that I have. Mind you that it is also not possible to get an accurate count of your minutes used while in Mexico, I believe it is because whatever cell phone carrier in Mexico that Verizon has a deal with reports those minutes used several weeks later.
But other than that I really like that fact that the LG Dare is compatible with this plan where it was not with The North America's Choice Plan.
