T-Mobile's Sidekick LX 2009 will be $249 for new customers
You still can't order it unless you got in on the pre-sale, but T-Mobile has now confirmed pricing for new customers wishing to pick up a fresh 2009-vintage Sidekick LX: $249. That'll be an after-rebate price on a two-year contract, while existing T-Mobile subscribers will continue to pay the $199 they've enjoyed during the pre-sale so far. Loyalty occasionally pays, it seems.

Ah, but if only loyal customers were so lucky for all phones offerings. Oh, and it's a Sidekick, so chances are your data connection will be iffy and your contacts will cut in and out like a banshee and the phone will stop reading all sim cards. But hey, I could be wrong, they could have fixed it... or it could be like the last 6 Sidekick models

I have had both iPhones, currently using a G1 and have had every kick since the 2. I can't say I EVER lost my contacts. Also, although they may be locked down tighter than...(choose your own phrase here)...and may not have had every feature in the book they were solid overall and never hung or crashed like Windows Mobile.
The browser never hung and completely kicked me out like the iPhone.
They were never released in beta form with all types of bugs, glitches and random application force closing / waiting like the G1.
They may not be perfect but your claims are pretty far off the mark.

Each model of the sidekick has gotten consistently better. Since it's original B&W models they grew just as all of the other devices have: cut and paste woes, catalog (aka:app store), lockups, etc. Additionally the reception has expanded tremendously over the years. Perhaps the market you are in doesn't make you a good canidate?? In the DC area, my experience with all of the sidekick's have only gotten better with each model. I did have one issue with the SIM card but that was because the original B&W sidekick SIM i still had that was working, was too slim for the LX slot and needed to be replaced, no problems since. The new unit has an 854x480 resolution screen, better camera, gps, the only missing component on this one appears to be WiFi which would be better now that you can surfing with the larger screen. It's not perfect but it's a good unit. Price is approaching reasonable as well. And i don't think most of the others can compete with the available data plan for the sidekick customers either.
