Liked that blurry photo of a new Palm webOS phone
we saw earlier? Well how about some specs, a name, and a better look at this thing? Enter the device above, apparently dubbed the Palm Eos (codenamed Castle...
where have we seen that before?), which it seems will be the company's proper follow-up to the Centro -- a quadband GSM / HSDPA phone notably rocking the 850 / 1900 AT&T and Rogers-friendly frequencies. The phone will supposedly be an astounding 10.6mm thin, will measure just 55mm x 111mm (about 2.1 by 4.3-inches), weigh 100 grams, and will tout a 2.63-inch, 320 x 400 capacitive display. Of course, the info we've got right now can't be verified, and since there are a couple of minor question marks here (like barely rounded corners in the OS), you should take it all with a grain of salt... as usual. Needless to say, we're working on getting more details (and some confirmation), so stay tuned!
Update: Oh boy -- looks like we just got the full spec list. And yes, it's definitely coming to AT&T (if it's really coming).

That sucks for us AT&T users, the pre is where its at. Id trade a pre for this any day.
Rob @ Apr 30th 2009 1:22PM
No, it sucks to be a Verizon user because like usual, we dont get anything.
garrett @ Apr 30th 2009 1:53PM
I don't know if we'll ever get this, but the E71X is IN ATT STORES NOW!!! At least in southside Indy it is, call 888.3799 to reserve yours today
Mike @ Apr 30th 2009 1:25PM
The Pre is still a better looking option.
Maticek @ Apr 30th 2009 1:41PM
Great formfactor, bad camera and a strange screen resolution.
Wanna bet, that this will come out before the Pre?
Colonel Kernel @ Apr 30th 2009 2:23PM
Yes, I would like to bet you on that. I'll win.

Well I guess we know what Mr blurry cam saw on that other post:
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/04/30/palm-going-centro-for-next-webos-handset/
Confused "webOS" for "EOS"
zach @ Apr 30th 2009 4:08PM
i honestly like this thing a bit more than the pre. The vertical slider doesn't really do it for me, 4gb and 2 mp camera is perfect. If only the screen res was 320x480 but it might be a typo. Looks pretty hot. Is that a gesture area under the screen?
Miguel @ Apr 30th 2009 3:45PM
Well if Sprints Gettin the Pre Next Month.....At&T gets this in the Fall.....then YES as usual Verizon will get whatever is left from Palms creations for them to Cripple in 2010.
zach @ Apr 30th 2009 4:09PM
i just am praying this thing has a 3.5mm headphone jack
dirk long @ Apr 30th 2009 4:41PM
They better not make the same mistake like on the Centro using a 2.5mm jack.
zach @ Apr 30th 2009 4:56PM
i'm pretty sure they won't. I think in some event they announced they would be using standard headphone jacks now (ie. treo pro and pre). this may be next phone
dishbreak @ Apr 30th 2009 5:38PM
I dunno, I find that thing kind of ugly? The edges are rounded, but the face looks flat, so the whole thing looks kind of odd. That being said, the Centro itself does look kind of odd, so I guess it's not THAT big of a deal.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ Apr 30th 2009 7:04PM
looks kind of like a smaller Treo Pro to me with the navigation buttons replaced by the home button. not sure if i believe this thing is real but it is crazy to think that Palm would have only one webOS device on the market.
plus that whole "Price: $349 (pre-rebate)" thing in that spec sheet is very suspect considering the already official Pre doesn't even have an official price yet.
Allen Straith @ Apr 30th 2009 11:11PM
The Eos looks like the Blackberry Bold, and it's not even as cool as the Pre. :-) But I had hoped they would keep the Centero line :( Oh well.
Neil @ May 1st 2009 7:29AM
Looks like a Photoshopped concept to me. Doesn't make sense for them to leak another handset right before the big Pre launch. Besides, is the Pre not being designed in both CDMA and UMTS form factors? Why would AT&T want a crap version of the Pro with webOS when they could just have a UMTS Pre? We'll see I guess.
