Verizon FiOS HD DVR owners all granted Remote DVR access, cellphone scheduling costs extra
It isn't an iPhone app, but we're sure plenty of people can appreciate Verizon's new, more widely available Remote DVR Management program. Previously limited to FiOS TV Media Manager subscribers only, accessed by the website or select VZW phones, now any FiOS DVR subscriber can queue up recordings via the website, while Media Manager subs can use http://m.verizon.com/tv from any cellphone, on any carrier for remote DVR programming.

"...more widely available..."
DirecTV's WAP site has been available for DVR programming from any cell phone for close to a year now. It's only recently that the iPhone app became available....

Verizon Fios internet is Awesome but their HD Service is horrible. I've had 3 different HD DVRs from them break. The thing only records 20 hrs of HD programming and their Tier system is stupid and confusing. I bought their "Extreme HD" package after being told it includes everything, turns out it doesn't include 5 HD Channels (the ones I want to watch like Sci-Fi HD). The OnDemand channels are flaky and buggy.
When the technician came over I spent 4 hours with him trying to resolve my issues and then he said it wasn't part of the Extreme package but he couldn't figure out which Package would actually get me Sci-Fi and USA HD. Then half the time the HD Channels that I do have seem to go out all the time (as though I was on Satellite - which never went out when I was DirectTV) I'm canceling the service this fall when my contract expires. I'm going back to DirecTV or Dish Network. I'm very disappointed with Fios. Again blazing fast Internet, everything else is half-arsed garbage.

Nope, it's not perfect, but almost anyone will agree that it kicks cable's ass (if both are in a properly working state, that is). Hell, I've had more trouble with other people's cable than I've had with FiOS at my various homes over the years - 4 years this year, and only 4 hours of downtime during that whole period. No pixelation on HD channels, no internet throttling, no phone service down. Everyone in my city is moving to FiOS in droves, and the worst thing I've heard from someone is that they got a defective router and had it replaced. Any sort of broken hardware is frustrating to have, though it doesn't reflect on the service itself, though you in particular seem to have issues with your connection, which is too bad. (Well, I hope i didn't sound like a fanboy, because I'm not!)
On topic: remote DVR is cool, I don't think I'll ever use it.

This actually happened over a month ago, although I don't know that you need to subscribe to Home Media Manager to access the wap site. They just tell you that.
Michelle - While I have had moments of wonkiness with my FiOS HD, I haven't experienced the mess you have.

*sigh*
Once again, Verizon makes headlines with something they "introduce".
I've been doing this with AT&T Uverse, free of charge, for close to two years.
Apparently Verizon doing it must somehow make it more legit or something. I don't know.

The mobile site and app for certain phones has been out for a little while, but I think this announcement is that it's for every DVR subscriber?

DirecTV and DishNetwork are the only things available where i live unfortunately. we went with DirecTV so we could get the NFL Ticket and NBA League Pass after years of having Dish Network. i really wish i could get Verizon Fios but i doubt it will ever come where i live. i'll have to pick an area they have it when i move after college in a year or two.

This has been around for awhile. It's a great feature I use occassionally. I have to say Verizon FiOS has been great for me. I have the Multimedia DVR and have had NO problems thus far. Better picture quality than DirecTV and much better overall then Cable could ever offer.
