Well, that "trial" didn't last long at all, now did it? Just days after
teeing up a $50 unlimited voice plan in the great city of San Francisco, T-Mobile USA has reportedly taken said plan nationwide. Users are already buzzing about the widespread availability, though it should be noted that the same "loyalty requirements" from the San Fran pilot are still in effect for the rest of the nation. In other words, you have to have been a T-Mob subscriber for at least 22 months and have been in good standing the whole time. Oh, and being cute probably helps.

I just signed up, what a great deal. I was on the verge of switching carriers, but with my cheaply had G1 and this development, t-mobile has locked me down for the foreseable future.

Nearly switched my account, but it refuses to allow me to keep my Total Internet plan add-on (T-Mobile Internet + T-Mobile Hotspot, for $20/mo), and doesn't offer any alternatives beyond offering a cheaper Hotspot only plan.
My Nokia N800 needs mobile Internet access. This is a show stopper.
What annoys me even more is apparently they've upped International prices and not told me. There's now a $5 add-on to keep them more reasonable. However, to add insult to injury, I'm not allowed to add the add-on without removing my Total Internet add-on.
Well, screw that. What the hell?

Update: I called them, rather than using the 'net. They were able to transfer my account over to the unlimited plan without me losing anything.
So if anyone else has the same problem, just call T-Mobile and speak to a human.

I just signed up for it too. Added unlimited web, SMS, MMS and instant messaging (if I would ever use that) for $34.99/month. So now I have unlimited everything for $85. Can't beat that.

Too bad you have to have an account for 22 months though to get the cheaper price. Surely will help retain customers.

No, it's not 3G, which is the one downside. But I've been getting along using EDGE plus wifi for a while now.
Plus, I get the option of choosing the phone I want, rather than have to pick from what Sprint allows. This is significant for me because the Nokia E71 (which I currently use) is pretty much close to the perfect phone for me.

Just added this new plan to my account! So excited. This will save me nearly $50 per month. T-Mobile works great out here and I love my new 8900.
I guess loyalty does pay off.

does this include family plans? do any of you who went for this actually use more than 1,000 minutes a month? i might leave verizon for this, tough times call for tough measures. even if the network has better coverage, until they get with the program i might need to program myself...

Before switching I had a 1500 minute plan and I was using right about that every month (even with having unlimited N&W and mobile to mobile minutes). By changing plans, I actually end up paying about $8 more per month but now I don't have to worry about limits on anything.
There is availability for family plans, although I'm not sure how much it's worth it if you have more than two lines ($89.98 for two lines, $40 for each additional). By the way, are you already using T-Mobile in addition to Verizon? Because again, the plan is for existing customers who meet some kind of requirement.

Just added this as well. It's only $4 a month more than I was paying for 1000 minutes. Yes, sometimes I do come close to exceeding that limit. Since I no longer have landline service it's suprisingly easy to do (sigh, I still like landlines, but AT&T local phone service sucks so bad I can't believe it--the worst technical and customer service experience I have ever had by far with any company of any nature). Anyway, and it's nice to not have to think about whether I'm going over or not.
For those not finding the deals they want, because that already have a grandfathered in good deal on data or something else, I suggest calling T-Mobile to make the switch, rather than going through the website. From the person I spoke with, I got the impression that in atypical situations, there's more the customer service people can do for you, than the website can do.

Wait a minute - this story is false - I have been a customer of T-Mobile for at since 2003, paid like a swiss watch keeps time and got the following response from Dan August B on their Live Chat:
"I found out that today this offer is available to only select customers. T-Mobile runs promotional offers and test offers that are available to different groups of customers, and at this time, your account does not qualify. In the future, your account may be eligible for similar type of offers. For some of our test offers, whether or not we extend these offers beyond the initial qualified group depends on the response from our customers."

How much have you been paying per month? Do you call customer care a lot to get other offers or discounts on phones? Those kinds of things factor in because they cost the carrier money. Obviously T-Mobile has some kind of requirement for this plan but you are the FIRST person I've heard of who qualified under the 22-month provision and has not been allowed to sign up for it.

T-Mobile didn't really need that much "trial" time for this plan; they have been doing this kind of plan in Puerto Rico ever since they took over and rebranded SunCom back in September of last year. Plus, they already had an unlimited plan nationwide, they just needed to lower the price. Sadly, T-Mobile has screwed this one up by being inconsistent in who qualifies for this plan and who doesn't.

2 Things - It's only "not 3g" if you live in an area without 3g....like me :-( but if you're in Cali(which is dang near ALL 3g covered) or Chi, or Detroit, or NY, or Miami, or Vegas, or ........ect, then you're good.
b - the new $35 internet plan includes text messaging/pic mail. So really it's still the same price. Cause the blackberry internet plan was 20, and then pic/txt was 15....so $35. no change in price.
3(bonus) - from what I hear, new customer are able to sign up for this as well....from what I hear...don't knwo how true it is tho.

and it's WELL worth it if you only have more than 2 lines. 3 lines....unlimited minutes.....$120.....and if all 3 lines got texting...you're lookin at 165 for EVERYBODY. normally that just enough to cover two people (149.99 for 2 people unlimited)....you're saving $35. But for people who talk alot...but NEVER text....5 people for under $200(190) for unlimited minutes. Thats like $38/person for unlimited minutes. and if they each added txting/pic mail...you're lookin at $53/person for unlimited txting/pic mail/minutes. You can't beat that with a wooden stick. Nobody can compete with that

I read about this plan being available yesterday and immediately called T-Mobile to confirm if it was true and they were more than happy to tell me yes. I have been a customer of theirs and companies they have purchased for over 12 years. Not once before can I remember a company giving any of their promotional items to existing customers. Usually they save these types of offers to people they are trying to win over from other carriers in hopes of building their client base.
Not the case this time, this is the real deal and I just saved $45.00 a month for my cellular service. I previously had the unlimited plan and was paying the $100.00 price but it also included unlimited text which I rarely ever used, I am more of an email guy than text but to be safe I added the 400 text plan for $5.00 to the service. So total cost is $55.00 instead of $100.00 and T-Mobile offered it up with a huge smile thanking me all the while.
If anyone who has had service for at least 22 months with them can say a bad word about this plan than you obviously must be in real bad place and just looking for a reason to hate.

That's great you could save money, but T-mobile obviously is choosing their loyal customers without revealing why - it offends those who have been long term (since 2003) customers in good standing when they are not included in this offer and given some line of BS! For that - TMO BLOWS! I am not under contract and WILL look elsewhere as their phones suck anyway.

I just called tmobile and they said it's only for "select customers," even though I've been with them for years and paid my bill on time every month.
I will be switching to Sprint as soon as the Palm Pre comes out.

Everything about this loyalty unlimited plan is true. such a great deal. however you must be a current T-Mobile customer of good standing (at least 22 months). This unlimited plan does not apply to new customers. There is no word as to how long the promotion will last. single line loyalty unlimited plans are 49.99. Unlimited data/text is 34.99 so total of 84.98 for unl everything is pretty sweet. The current unl min/text single line plan is 99.99 no data. with data, total is 125. Family loyalty unl plans are 89.99 and 39.99 for any additional (up to 5 total) These loyalty plans are only minutes data is separate. There is no catch for current customers to switch... meaning no requirement for contract extensions! Contract extensions come when you get a new phone at a discounted price. The best way to take advantage of this loyalty promotion is to go to your nearest T-Mobile corporate retail store!

T Mobile sucks folks, if you are in a metro area it is great, if not blah, and they are only offering this $50 a month for existing customers, probably with tax included, no one can touch Boost at this time, killer signal strenth, if not better than AT&T, in outreaching area's, very practical and has it's perks.
