T-Mobile rumored to be queuing up cheap unlimited voice plans
We'd ingest this one alongside a heavy dose of salt, but rumor has it that T-Mobile USA is getting ready to counter the economic crisis with some stellar deals. Reportedly, the carrier will introduce a number of low(er)-cost unlimited voice plans for those customers it deems "loyal," which will purportedly equate to having an account that's at least 22 months old and in good standing. Of course, anyone looking for data or SMS will probably not even bother giving the read link a look, but if all you do is yap, yap and yap, you might as well give it a peek. Remember, just keep your expectations low until further notice.

already a trial in San Francisco.
oakie @ Feb 20th 2009 3:56PM
it's legit. my step-sister's father-in-law's gay life partner just signed up for it in san francisco.
but seriously though, it's legit, and has just undergone trials in the bay area, with nationwide reach in march.
for the "newbs", they're going to offer a $135 "switchers" credit so no one gets left out... if you port to TMO, they'll credit you $135 for switching, to help offset the cost of your ETF.
a friend of mine is an internal auditor at TMO Bellevue and gave me the heads up about it a couple weeks ago should i be interested in switching plans.

T-Mobile = Fail. $49.99 + tax and only voice?!?!?
Try $50 FLAT for Boost Mobile's plan with UNLIMITED voice, text, web AND PTT AND no contract.
squiggleslash @ Feb 20th 2009 8:26PM
T-Mobile isn't iDEN. It has a fairly high quality GSM network (in my view more solid than AT&T's, but obviously experiences will differ by area) and it's in the midst of rolling out a full 3G UMTS network. Unlimited data is $7/$20/$25 per line depending on which data plan you sign up to.
That's a hell of a deal. Good job Boost in pushing the other operators to do this.

Does your Blackberry 8900 or equivalent work on Boost, especially when you are traveling from Berlin to Moscow to Shanghai to Sydney to Johannesburg to Santiago de Chile and then back home? I didn't think so. It's not the same thing. In addition, only T-Mobile USA has UMA, which has proven to save some people several hundred dollars per day while roaming abroad, where they otherwise pay $1-$5 per minute in roaming fees.

"traveling from Berlin to Moscow to Shanghai to Sydney to Johannesburg to Santiago de Chile and then back home"
WTH... how many people on T-Mobile's network will do that trip enough to make it a key point for switching to them as a cell provider, much less even once in their life?

Then I can play more time for games review and useful time online.

Obviously T-Mobile will allow add-ons to these packages -- so if you're worried about losing MMS and DATA, no worries. You'll just pay the $24.99 data add on price like normal or the $34.99 for UNL Data + Messaging. T-Mobile is going to change the game once this hits. Sprints $99 Simply Everything plan will be a thing of the past (unless you can't live without NFL mobile.)
reallynotnick @ Feb 20th 2009 6:11PM
If that comes true T-Mobile should just dominate the competitors, Sprints plans are already cheapest by far but if T-Mobile does it for $85 that would be amazing.
ATT and Verizon just seem like highway robbery for prices IMO.
Miguel @ Feb 20th 2009 7:35PM
So this is only news to existing subscribers? If thats case a subscriber would just go to Sprint From Verizon or At&t to get that low plan Instead
Be better if the had unlimited Voice for ALL customers Old & New. Then tack on the options to equate it to Sprints plan. But Sprints plan wont be a thing of the Past considering Sprint Was the first to offer everything for that low and as of now are the ONLY ones offrering it. And theres still people who arent sold on GSM...especially when T-Mobiles Coverage isnt that great.....Nor is its 3G
Don Louie @ Feb 20th 2009 5:53PM
The thing about these plans is they are "limited time" and only for older and porting customers, considering the lame 3G network have this more an effort to combat the Boost offering than anything. The $15 dollars saved also doesn't get a comparable data network, nav, tv or radio. The Everything plans are here to stay, these plans aren't

CellPhoneSignal just updated the blog, and it looks like it is official now. They have some screenshots up, and official word that people are receiving this great deal.
http://www.cellphonesignal.com/t-mobile-unlimited-loyalty-plans-get-official-on-myt-mobilecom/
Awesome!! It looks like T-Mobile is the best after all.
Erica @ Feb 20th 2009 7:15PM
Remember, these unlimited plans are for proven loyal customers designed to curb churn. These aren't plans that are going to be offered to all new subs with the exception of the one time $135 credit for those who port in.
Dannyboy @ Feb 20th 2009 8:35PM
So.... just got off the phone with 2 different sales reps, and the $135 credit is only for existing T-Mo subscribers who port in an additional line. New customers are not eligible for that credit. Just to let people know.
Omagus @ Feb 20th 2009 9:03PM
I wonder what someone has to have done to be considered a loyal customer. From what I'm seeing, T-Mobile is offering it to customers via their account at tmobile.com. I just checked and I don't have the offer. I've been paying nearly $100 per month to T-Mobile for over three years (most of that without a contract). Maybe ou have to have multiple lines...?
Omagus @ Feb 20th 2009 9:10PM
Or maybe that's because I don't live in San Francisco.
Anyway, if this is legitimate, it'll be the perfect opportunity to renew my contract and pick up the 8900.
Richard @ Feb 21st 2009 2:40AM
THIS IS SOOOOO LEGIT.
I got this plan and brand new Curve 8900 for $179 flat on a 1YR contract. I have been with TMO for over 5 years, and live in the San Fran market.
read my story here, its a douzy:

I like this. This is moving towards what is inevitable, which is a basic plan on any carrier having unlimited minutes.
And stop mentioning Boost when someone mentions a contract carrier! That's like walking up to a group of guys talking about their Ferraris and Lambos, and saying "My 1986 Toyota Corolla gets 30mpg." IT'S NOT RELEVANT!
Don Louie @ Feb 21st 2009 9:49PM
how is it not relavent to mention Boost, t mo's 3G isn't expasive enough where the two cn't be compared and Boost's plan includes data, messaging and ptt for the same price
