Nokia's N95 8GB sees update to v31.0.015
Nokia's N95 8GB just got updated to v31.0.015, and if you're a proud owner of this here handset, we'd recommend you give it a look. The full ROM weighs in at around 130MB, and some of the changes include the closing of the SDK security "hack" for jailbreaking personal devices, minor bug fixes / cosmetic improvements of the undisclosed variety, photo quality improvements and better browsing stability. Per usual, we'd recommend backing everything up before passing the point of no return, but feel free to chime in below once you've seen the so-called improvements.

FUCK YOU ROGERS AND YOUR FUCKING BRANDING THAT PREVENTS ME FROM UPDATING MY NOKIA UNLESS I UNBRAND AND BREAK MY WARRANTY!
I really hate this. I'm stuck on v.11. This is a joke.

I wouldn't want to update to this firmware though since people are saying there is a signal bug in it. Not to mention you can't hack the phone so you can install unsigned apps.

Use Nemesis to change your product code, then update. Should get it debranded.
itsnotabigtruck @ Jan 21st 2009 11:53PM
...but make sure to use a product code that has the most recent update /before/ this one (or better yet, use NCS/Phoenix).

I know all about Nemesis. The thing is, if I send my phone in for a repair, they will know if I've tweaked the software and they'll return my phone. I don't like taking chances with warranties, especially on a phone I bought for $300. I just wish updating was as straight forward as the iPhone...

@Albanian_Killa,
In this case, it would not help you much to have your phone de-branded. It is still a N95-4 (a.k.a. N95 8GB NAM); this update is for the N95-2 (N95 8GB international version).
The most current firmware for the (unlocked) N95-4 is 20.2.005.

I read your post and I fully agree with you. Fuck Rogers. In Europe you can whatever you want with your phone but here in Canada it is worse than in fucking jail. Did you find meantime some new info on the debranding Rogers?
I tried (fuck warranty) to change the code from 0564753 (Canada) to 0550378 (Euro3) with Nemessis. After changing code I run Nokia Software Update and it tells me that there is no software update for my phone. I am running as you on 11.2.001. If you got any news on debranding...etc please send me an email.
Thanks

I have had an N95 and then an N95-8gb, they were great phones BUT the PC sinc'ing software that Nokia pretends you to install on your PC, the infamous Nsuite, is a disgrace.
It's probably worse than a virus on your PC
I'm so happy I have erased all those tons of crap from my machines and got rid of Nokia's programs for good.
Nsuite consisted of 11 different programs each needing constant updates and never working properly anyway.
Every time I needed to connect the phone to a PC or a laptop for any reason it was a nightmare of errrs, crashes, unexplicable freezes and all sort of bugs.
I even payed to buy the full version of one of those programs called Simple Center and I had to erase it a week later because it had the effect of malware on the PC it was installed on.
I like the forthcoming N97 but before buying one I'll check its software this time, if it will still be the horrid Nsuite I'm gonna stay away from it and stick to win mobile smartphones and their seamless sinc'ing softwares.

Not sure what the hell problems you have had. I have PCSuite installed on 3 computers, it works great, no problems....

Great Update! Was worried at first about the so called signal bug, but it actually has IMPROVED my signal. The browser rocks now, just wish my phone was touch screen :). Maybe nokia will come out with a large screen, HD, multi-touch phone soon but until then I am stuck :), with this phone so thanks for making it that much better nokia.
P.S. sorry about all the lost revenue this past year, but I have done my part N95 a few years ago and just upgraded to 8GB (both at retail unlocked $720 and $615 respectively). Please keep making great, secure, fun phones with lots of the newest features!!!

Jailbreaking n95? What did I miss? I've never had any need to do anything like that, and I've installed pretty much everything on it.

Why isn´t Nokia releasing updates for the N98-4 (NAM) version. It is now two updates behind the European version.

To those who want to debrand rogers N95 8gb. Use this code in nemesis 0561948. Better yet go here http://www.n95users.com/forum/general-95/4058-nokia-n95-tips-2.html#post35045
follow instructions, I just debranded my phone. REMEMBER TO NOTE DOWN YOUR ORIGINAL CODE (THE ONE YOU CHANGE). AFTER UPDATE IS DONE CHANGE TO ORGINAL CODE FOR WARRENTY PURPOSES.
Also before switching from nemesis to the nokia utility, unhook the usb cable from phone and then reattach.( i had to do it). And do it again once u want to change the number back to original.
