It's my understanding that the service is designed to offer email to 75% of the worlds population that doesn't currently have email service. The rest of us can use it to access our current mail accounts. An email gateway of sorts.
I find the concept amazing as Nokia holds a unique position where their products are in the hands of billions of people everyday. What other company, can offer free email to almost the entire world population?
