T-Mobile lowers price of G1 admission in the UK to better compete
If you were a bit taken aback by the £40 ($59) monthly tariff required to take the G1 home for free, apparently you weren't alone. T-Mobile has hacked that requirement down to £30 ($44) per month, and while the carrier itself has said that it's not a reaction to poor sales, industry analysts are saying otherwise. In fact, a company spokesperson even states that it has chosen to "offer the device free with a £30 contract to make the pricing more competitive in light of recent device launches," even though it is "well on track to achieve [its] sales forecasts." Whatever the agenda, we're all about getting phones into hands for less, so three cheers all around. Except for you early adopters... bummer, eh?

Eh, at least those that got them first have had more practice at upgrading firmware and checking the Market every few hours for new stuff. :-)

This is how they are going to "SALE" 1 Million G1's by the end of the year. Way to Go!!

If your misspelling of the word, Sale is an attempt at comic relief due to some obscure joke or reference that I missed, please disregard, otherwise...
Your "SALE" misspelling, completely and utterly distracted me to the point of momentary insanity.
Good day.

And what have the US customers done to deserve the shaft they are getting from T-Mo here? $180/phone with 24 month service contract and at least $25/month data plan plus whatever voice plan you have, against unlimited data plus free phone for $50 in the UK? This is ridiculous extortion! What am I missing?

This was a simple business decision, because VODAFONE UK offers the BLACKBERRY BOLD for free with a 35GBP data plan.
In the US, the G1's initial and running costs are still cheaper than being on Verizon. Plus, every phone T-Mobile seems to be selling in its stores right now seems to be a G1. Why would they lower their price if they can sell it at the current one just fine??
