AT&T's Ralph de la Vega says iPhone tethering coming "soon"
There's not exactly a lot of details to go on here (or any, really), but AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega has just confirmed during an interview at the Web 2.0 Summit that an AT&T-approved iPhone tethering option will indeed be available "soon." That lack of detail includes any word on pricing or, of course, an actual release date, though MacRumors is reporting separately that it's hearing the tethering capability will be built into the 2.2 firmware, which seems like at least a reasonable guess.[Via MacRumors]

If I'm dropping $30 bucks a month on an "unlimited" plan. Why am I being made to pay more for tethering my laptop? Greed.

are they gonna charge to tether?

this is not a very good idea. Our son is just starting to tether and it seems VERY painful. He cries and even has to take special tablets to endure the process. I would not recommend this to anyone.

I suggest Apple (and at&t by proxy) work on more basic niceties...like copy and paste, for example...before coming up with the next great way to suck more blood from their customers.

If you want to tether, they're going to make you pay at least $30 on top of your $70 voice/data plan. That's a $100/month bill, I hope you get some kind of FAN discount.

still unbelievable that tethering isn't already included
