AWS-capable Nokia 1606 flip phone arrives on Cricket
Nokia 1606's isn't a new creature, but it is a new member of the quickly expanding Cricket family. The AWS-capable flip phone pretty much sticks to the basic, boasting just a 160 x 128 resolution display (internal) / 96 x 32 pixel monochrome LCD (external), a voice recorder, 3.5-hours of talk time (11 days in standby) and weighs just 2.68-ounces. If that's enough to suit you, head to nearest Cricket shop and hand over $129.99 plus any applicable taxes.

OK - at the risk of sounding uneducated, can someone please tell me what an "AWS-capable" is? I tried Google and Ask, and came up with Advanced Wireless Service, Amazon Web Service, and American Welding Society.
Do I need to get some welding goggles for this phone?

AWS, or Advanced Wireless Services, is the spectrum allocated by the FCC for broadband services in around 2006. It represents the new 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz frequencies for mobile 3G.
Most people equate AWS with T-MobileUSA's 3G network, since they are the only network so far to entirely be built on this spectrum. This is a CDMA handset, instead of a GSM device, so for all us T-Mobile subscribers watching for anything labeled "AWS" combined with "Nokia", our hopes are dashed again...
HELLO, NOKIA?? All those loyal Nseries smartphone users at T-MobileUSA, a brand new 3G network, spectrum rights to cover the entire country, and NOT ONE AWS GSM HANDSET FOR T.MOBILEUSA YET?!?!

AWS is 1700/2100 MHz bands allocated for 3G in 2006 by the FCC. Had this been a GSM device instead of CDMA, T-MobileUSA subscribers would be jumping for joy! Not many devices operate on this nascent frequency.
Now come on, Nokia!! It was T-MobileUSA that introduced the Nseries to the US! REWARD YOUR LOYALISTS WITH AN AWS GSM S60 DEVICE!

Anyone seen an instruction manual on this phone?? That is a step by step manual in lieu of the brief introduction one included in the box. Any help would be appreciated.
