Apple also didn't allow developers an interface to talk to a little thing that goes in your shoe from your regular ipod, either, but Nike did it..
My point is that if/when a Nike+ thing is developed, they likely won't be as limited by the SDK as us mere mortals. They make deals in conference rooms and exchange money and things happen.
