Palm's Vista-compatible Desktop 6.2 arrives woefully late
C'mon -- hop in this nifty time machine here and float with us back to December of 2006. That month, friends, is when Palm initially stated that it was cooking up a Vista-savvy iteration of its Desktop synchronization software, and yet, here we are some 13 months later wondering what took so long. Nevertheless, a finalized version of Desktop 6.2 for Vista has finally been loosed (half a year after the beta was revealed, mind you), and even though it does play nice with 32-bit editions of Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate, 64-bit Vista / XP users are still left out in the cold. For Palm (and Vista) users out there willing to forgive the tardiness, go on and hit up the read link to get the 65.2MB file headed over.

That bastard Palm and its Handspring sister - they never wanted to support Hotsync on my Win XP x64 for my then four-year-old Treo 300. Could wait no more in May 2007 (three months after I acquired Vista Ultimate 64) - I scrapped my Treo 300 and bought a Windows Mobile 5-based Treo 700wx. Now I'm happy except for the fact that WM5 doesn't support font-linking and doesn't recognize fonts intalled on my SD card (the internal Flash memory is very freakingly small - 64 MB! Doens't allow me to use all my favorite OpenType fonts) and for the fact that my Treo 700wx is having problems with 4-GB SD (not SDHC) cards. I just hope Sprint releases a WM6 update for my 700wx - or something that would let me use fonts from SD cards and even a driver update to let me use 4GB SDs with no hassles.

But Apple's iTunes support for 64-bit Windows came like Monday.

Speaking of PDAs/smarphones...
*wonders when (if ever) we'll see OOXML support in Blackberry devices*
