Nokia and AT&T announce 6555 3G flip
Hey, we'd been told we'd see this next month -- but who are we to complain when the phone fairy drops in a couple weeks early? Nokia and AT&T today have announced the immediate availability of the 6555, a rather attractive flip -- "smoothback design," as they call it -- sporting UMTS, a QVGA primary display, microSD expansion in case the 30MB onboard ain't enough, and the full spread of GSM / EDGE bands for global dominance. It hasn't shown up on AT&T's site just yet, but we're told we can get it today for $49.99 on a two-year agreement.

This is the best looking Nokia flip phone that I have ever seen. I want this phone! Too bad I just bought the Nokia 6126. Now, I have to wait two years for something this cool.

I'm using a V3xx with 3G and 320x240 (QVGA) but it's 252k color screen (18-bit). This is the same but 16million colors (24-bit). Seems nice. I feel like upgrading my v3xx. Does anybody know about video playback on this device. Will it play mp4 files at 320x240 and also will it play 320kbps audio. The v3xx can't do either. It also must be able to tether data. If it can do that, I'm upgrading on my family member's accounts.

I think we're gonna have to wait until it's released and it gets some in-depth reviews.
Looks pretty cool though - I think!

It Supporst H.264/AVC so maybe higher quality video. It only records video up to 176x144 @ 15fps but that doens't mean it limits the play to that (in the case of the v3xx, it is limited)

Sorry, no HSDPA here folks. Plain old vanilla UMTS/WCDMA is all you get here =(
oh and the "smoothback design"? i'd rather have a sturdy hinge than one that's smooth/seemless any day. flips and the USA market are still Nokia's weakest links, IMO
gotta admit it looks nice though

Indeed, fixed... thanks!

So they sacrifice a "smooth" look in the closed position to make for an elegant look when the phone is open? The pics I've seen of it open are quite purdy but closed, it looks like two broken halves stuck together. The PEBL, despite its lame software, still remains the best designed phone I've ever seen, touched, or used.

razr and samsung ripoff. the e92 needs to show on a us carrier. aside from the iphone and siekick, not much else from tmob and att get my attention. the sidekick is dated now too. verizon and sprint r total shit 2
